Organizational Overview
The Great Lakes Regional Organizing Committee (GROC) supports LIUNA’s internal and external organizing efforts across Minnesota, North Dakota, Wisconsin, Michigan, and the Chicago area. Representing more than half a million LIUNA members across the U.S. and Canada, our mission is to build worker power, strengthen union density, and expand economic fairness through innovative campaigns, effective use of technology, and strong member engagement.

Position Summary
The Data & Organizing Systems Director will serve as the regional lead for technology and data systems that support organizing, political, and communications work. This role combines technical expertise with relational leadership, ensuring that EveryAction and other systems are fully implemented, maintained, and leveraged to advance organizing outcomes. The position will provide training, coaching, and strategic support to regional, state, and local staff while maintaining high standards of data integrity and innovation.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as system administrator for our regional CRM, EveryAction, across the region, managing parent and child accounts, setting protocols and permissions, and ensuring consistent and accurate data.
  • Ensure EveryAction communicates effectively with internal membership tracking systems and build connections between platforms.
  • Provide training and coaching (individual and group) for organizers, researchers, communicators, and leaders to increase comfort and effectiveness using data tools.
  • Identify ways to use CRM tools to target and communicate with both members and non-union construction workers.
  • Manage data quality, standardization, and clean-up across multiple databases; oversee timely uploads, syncing, and reporting.
  • Develop dashboards and regular reports on key performance indicators (KPIs) for internal and external organizing campaigns.
  • Support regional and state staff with account creation, data inputs, codes, bulk uploads, and voter contact tools (e.g., VPB, texting platforms, dialers).
  • Manage vendor relationships and coordinate with consultants, including political modeling (e.g., TargetSmart).
  • Support analytics and targeting strategies to maximize the impact of LIUNA’s organizing and communication resources.

Qualifications

  • Advanced experience with CRM systems, especially EveryAction (required).
  • Strong background in data management, spreadsheets (Excel/Google Sheets), and reporting systems.
  • Experience using peer-to-peer texting platforms (Hustle, GetThru, Spoke) and dialers (CallEvo, CallHub, Scale to Win) preferred.
  • Ability to deliver technical training, coaching, and troubleshooting for diverse audiences.
  • Demonstrated experience working successfully in politically sensitive and high-pressure environments.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills; ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Passion for worker organizing, electoral politics, and issue campaigns.
  • Knowledge of the labor movement strongly preferred.
  • Experience with graphic design software (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) to support member-to-member communications via text and email is a plus.
  • Ability to travel extensively and work extended hours as needed.

Location and Travel
This position is based in the GROC region and requires regular travel across Minnesota, North Dakota, Wisconsin, Michigan, and Illinois.

Compensation
Salary is commensurate with experience.
