Quality Manager
LuxWall is focused on the product development, scaling and commercializing of innovative glass products and solutions for the built environment. LuxWall’s transparent insulation technology, Enthermal Glass, provides a step change in energy performance by significantly reducing convective, conductive, and radiative heat gain and heat loss in buildings. Job Overview
The Quality Manager will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining a comprehensive quality management system throughout the organization. They will have a culture of continuous improvement, excellence, and compliance to enhance overall product/service quality. They will collaborate with cross-functional teams and leadership to define quality objectives, establish quality metrics, and drive improvements across the Company.
Position Responsibilities
Quality Management System (QMS)
- Develop, implement, and maintain an ISO 9001-compliant QMS tailored to VIG production.
- Ensure all Control Plans, SOPs, and Work Instructions are up-to-date and reflect current practices on both the GFL and VAL.
- Lead internal audits (e.g., weekly, monthly, quarterly process audits on GFL cutting and edge grinding, primer, VAL main application, and others) and coordinate external audits (e.g., IGCC/IGMA certification).
- Manage/direct CAPA processes for issues such as vacuum seal failures or coating defects, ensuring root causes are addressed and documented.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
- Support EHS initiatives by integrating quality and safety practices.
Inspection & Testing Oversigh t
- Implement and regularly monitor incoming glass inspections for float clear and coated glass, ensuring compliance with visual and dimensional standards. (Monthly)
- Oversee in-process inspections on the GFL and VAL lines, based on control plans and customer requirements.
- Ensure adherence to sampling plans and SPC control charts for critical parameters.
- Manage gage calibration schedules and conduct MSA studies for tools like thickness gauges, coating detectors, and sheet resistivity meters.
Process Control & Product Quality:
- Monitor and control quality parameters across GFL and VAL processes.
- Define and enforce quality checkpoints and inspection criteria at each stage of production.
- Analyze process data and implement improvements to reduce defects and variability using tools like the Quality Improvement Plan/Matrix.
Data Analysis & Reporting
- Monitor key quality metrics :
- GFL: Primer, tempering defect rates.
- VAL: Vacuum failure rate, seal defect rate, escape audit findings.
- Analyze trends using tools like Pareto charts and control charts to identify recurring issues (e.g., glass blemishes or misaligned pillars).
Compliance & Standards
- Collaborate with other functions to ensure compliance with :
- EN 1279 for insulating glass units.
- IGCC/IGMA certification requirements.
- SGCC certification requirements.
- Customer-specific standards for thermal performance and visual quality.
- Monitor traceability of all glass units from raw material to final product using batch tracking and digital logs.
- Coordinate documentation for regulatory audits and customer quality reviews.
Continuous Improvement
- Support continuous improvement initiatives/projects to reduce defects (e.g., reducing vacuum seal failures by optimizing bake cycle parameters, identifying root causes for scratches).
- Participate in FMEA discussions to assess risks in new product introductions or process changes (e.g., switching to a new edge grinding machine).
- Promote a culture of quality ownership through regular training, visual management, and other programs.
- Lead customer satisfaction initiatives, by scheduling, conducting, and leading recurring calls and visits, managing customer specifications, reporting on product performance, and managing overall customer relationship on the technical and quality side.
- Interface with customers on quality-related matters, including audits and complaint resolution. (As Needed)
Team Leadership
- Manage a team of Quality Technicians and Inspectors across both lines.
- Deliver hands-on training in:
- Visual inspection techniques for incoming glass and final inspection.
- Use of SPC tools and interpretation of control charts.
- Conducting escape audits and root cause analysis.
- Collaborate with Production, Engineering, and Maintenance to resolve quality issues and implement robust corrective actions
- Conduct regular performance reviews, set goals, and support career development for quality team members.
- Perform assigned responsibility as needed.
Environmental Health & Safety
- Leading the safety initiatives and ensuring that we are meeting the OSHA standards and remaining in compliance for safety and environmental.
- Responsible for supporting and building our safety culture from the ground up.
- Work closely with leadership, safety zone leaders, employees and external Safety Consultants to ensure that safety programs, policies and compliance standards are developed, implemented and maintained in line with regulatory requirements.
- Partner with the Safety Consultant to establish and maintain EHS programs, procedures, and training tailored for a start-up environment.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, state, and local safety/environmental regulations.
- Conduct and support risk assessments, job safety analyses (JSAs), and hazard identification.
- Assist with developing and delivering EHS training for employees and supervisors.
- Monitor workplace conditions and perform regular inspections with the Safety Consultant.
- Track and report safety metrics, incidents, near-misses, and corrective actions.
- Support incident investigations and root cause analysis; follow up on corrective/preventive measures.
- Assist with permitting, waste handling, and environmental compliance requirements as applicable.
- Promote a proactive safety culture by engaging with employees at all levels.
- Maintain accurate EHS records and documentation.
- Other duties as assigned.
Position Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in business, engineering or another technical field required, or High School diploma or equivalent.
- 10+ years of previous experience working in quality with a preference for previously having worked within a production environment.
- 3+ years of previous experience working as a Quality Manager
- Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, 5-S, Total Quality Concepts, and Six Sigma.
- Possess a robust understanding of the IATF and ISO standards and their implementation.
- Experience with some Lean Manufacturing / Six Sigma tools and techniques.
- Strong ability to lead through influence.
- Hands-on approach to problem solving and analysis.
- Ability to perform root cause analysis.
- Knowledge of inspection equipment.
- Keen ability to operate with with a sense of urgency.
- Excellent Data Analytical Skills.

Work Environment
- Requires working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment with exposure to machinery, chemicals, and varying temperatures and noise levels.
