Embedded Systems Engineer | Mattawan, MI

Salary Range: $81,000 - $126,000 depending on experience

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and test embedded firmware and software for manufacturing automation and control systems.
• Integrate embedded systems with industrial hardware, sensors, actuators, and communication protocols.
• Diagnose and resolve complex embedded system issues on the production floor, minimizing operational downtime.
• Optimize real-time embedded system performance for efficiency, reliability, and scalability in manufacturing processes.
• Develop and maintain comprehensive technical documentation for embedded system designs, code, and test procedures.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (e.g., mechanical, electrical, production) to define requirements and implement solutions.
• Ensure embedded systems comply with industry standards, safety regulations, and quality requirements for manufacturing environments.

Recommended Qualifications

• Strong proficiency in C/C++ for embedded firmware development.
• Extensive experience with microcontroller architectures (e.g., ARM Cortex-M) and their peripherals.
• Demonstrated ability to work with industrial communication protocols (e.g., Modbus, CAN, SPI, I2C, Ethernet/IP).
• Experience developing and debugging applications on Real-Time Operating Systems (RTOS).
• Proficiency in using lab equipment (oscilloscopes, logic analyzers) and interpreting schematics for hardware/software debugging.

Bonus Qualifications

• Experience with industrial communication protocols (e.g., Modbus, EtherCAT, PROFINET, OPC UA)
• Familiarity with Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Testability (DFT) principles
• Experience developing automated test fixtures or production programming tools
• Knowledge of manufacturing quality systems (e.g., ISO 9001, Six Sigma) or industrial safety standards
