General Position Summary

The General Manager will manage the overall store operations and the achievement of company goals and directives.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (See below - Please note, other duties may be assigned depending on the needs of business)

Customer Service

Provide a positive representation of the store.

Proactively assist customers and staff in solving problems.

Must have a friendly, outgoing personality and be able to work well with associates and customers.

Handle customer complaints and work to resolve problems with the customer while taking into consideration, the store’s best interest.

Possess excellent product knowledge, must be familiar with store layout, as well as product location.

Store Operations

Ensure a professional, positive and safe work environment for all associates.

Manage the general operations of the entire store.

Assist with the implementation of Store Support Center programs.

Ensure successful Loss Prevention and Safety Protocols.

Assist with daily maintenance, orderliness and cleanliness of the sales floor, stock room and outdoor merchandise areas.

Oversee all cashier functions including training, maintenance, audits and reports.

Inventory and Merchandising

Oversee ordering and maintaining product inventory levels to ensure in-stocks and store profitability.

Ensure merchandise resets are completed throughout the store.

Verify all signage is current throughout the store.

Ensure cycle counts and negative on-hand reports are completed timely and accurately.

Hiring & Training of Associates

Hire, train and develop retail staff for growth and success in their position.

Actively recruit and promote the advancement of associates.

Leadership

Manage all aspects of store operations.

Lead by example, be approachable to all associates and customers.

Lead and/or Participate in store meetings.

Leaders must delegate, train, and monitor the progress of all associates and all facets of the hardware store. The primary responsibilities of in-store management are to manage the sales, expenses, profits, assets, and team member’s personal development to ensure customers are receiving the highest level of customer service.

The ideal candidate will have at least 3 years of previous retail management experience.

The ability to stand and walk for up to 8 hours during shift are required.
