MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in criminal justice, social work, psychology, human services, public health, corrections, public administration, court administration, or related field. -AND- Two (2) years' experience working with a specialty court office, such as veterans court, mental health court, sobriety court, adult felony recovery court, family recovery court or similar court diversionary program with a substance use and/or mental health disorder component.
JOB SUMMARY: Performs a wide variety of legal duties in the Specialty Court Programs under the Specialty Courts Services Director; coordination of docket and staffing for court review hearings; direct supervision of the specialty court participants' compliance with programming, including implementation of the appropriate supervision level based on established measures, providing community linkages and referrals to appropriate agencies and monitoring the day-to-day activities of the participants.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND FUNCTIONS:
- Completes orientations and compliance checks with participants;
- Reviews client referral information to determine if program eligibility criteria are met;
- Investigates and summarizes the facts of potential pending cases;
- Maintains files as necessary for clients in the programs;
- Analyzes program reports and provides results to appropriate staff;
- Performs legal research and follow up as required;
- Allocates screening referrals to compliance manager;
- Monitor clients and supervision of case in conjunction with MDOC and treatment providers;
- Meet with clients regularly following specialty court supervision standards;
- Acts as a liaison to connect clients with needs, supports, or other ancillary services;
- Make recommendations on phase promotion, graduation requirements, sanctions, incentives, terminations, etc.;
- Works closely with program judges and staff involved in the specialty court programs;
- Assists with general office duties.
