Provide consultation and outreach to relevant partners and contractors who participate in diabetes prevention and management evidence-based programming. This position consults with and provide technical assistance to organizations to increase participation and sustainability, specifically as it relates to building capacity, value proposition and long-term growth of evidence-based programming. Researches and interprets rules and procedures related to third party reimbursement of Diabetes Prevention Program (DPP), including Medicaid and Medicare and provides technical assistance to delivery organizations on enrollment in Medicaid DPP (MiDPP) and monitors qualification and training. This position identifies, builds and maintains relationships with community organizations to ensure that the representation of partners reflects the diverse needs of communities in diabetes prevention and management programming. Develops educational materials, newsletters, reports, and promotional material to enhance and improve public awareness and confidence regarding diabetes programming. Maintains records and prepares reports and correspondence related to work.

Required Education and Experience
Education
Possession of a master's degree in public health, health communication, health services administration, community development, urban planning, population and health sciences, international studies, political science, health policy or a public health related field such as nursing, epidemiology, health education, health economics, dietetics/nutrition management, genetics, or speech and audiology; a master's degree in social work; master's degree in counseling; master’s degree in education or special education with specialization in blind/visual disabilities; or a master’s degree in public or business administration with a health care concentration.
Experience
Public Health Consultant 9
No specific type or amount is required.
Public Health Consultant 10
One year of professional, post-master's experience as a consultant in a field of public health equivalent to a Public Health Consultant 9.
Public Health Consultant P11
Two years of professional, post-master's experience as a consultant in a field of public health equivalent to a Public Health Consultant, including one year equivalent to a Public Health Consultant 10.
Additional Requirements and Information
The physical location of this position is 320 S Walnut St, Elliott-Larsen Building, 5-N, Lansing, MI 48933. Based on operational needs and within established limits, remote work and alternate or hybrid work schedule requests for this position may be considered. Selected candidates who have been approved to work remotely or a hybrid schedule must complete that work within Michigan. Candidates should confirm work location and schedule at the time of interview.
Employees will be provided computers to perform state work. Phones may also be provided for necessary communications. If working remotely, employees will be responsible for providing other components of a remote office at their own expense, including:
- A secure work location that allows privacy and prevents distractions.
- A high-speed internet connection of at least 25 Mbps download and 5 Mbps upload.
- Suitable lighting, furniture, and utilities.
