NATURE OF THE POSITION:
We are seeking an enthusiastic, creative, and highly skilled K-8 STEM Teacher / IT Support Specialist to join our dynamic educational team. This dual-role position combines the responsibilities of teaching STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) to students in grades K-8, while also providing essential IT support to faculty, staff, and students. The ideal candidate will have a passion for fostering curiosity and critical thinking in students and will possess a strong technical background to support the school's technology infrastructure.
RESPONSIBILITIES OF POSITION:
- STEM Teaching:
● Design and implement an engaging STEM curriculum for grades K-8, incorporating hands-on activities, inquiry-based learning, and real-world applications.
● Foster a learning environment that encourages curiosity, creativity, and collaboration in all STEM disciplines.
● Integrate technology tools and digital resources to enhance student learning and prepare students for future technological challenges.
● Assess student progress, provide regular feedback, and adapt teaching strategies to meet diverse learning styles and needs.
● Collaborate with fellow educators to integrate STEM concepts across subjects and grade levels.
● Provide after-school enrichment programs or clubs related to STEM subjects, if applicable.
● Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with STEM educational trends and technology advancements.
● Organize and Participate in the annual STEM competition in Chicago, parent STEM night and after school clubs.
IT Support:
● Serve as the primary IT support contact for the school, troubleshooting hardware and software issues for both staff and students.
● Maintain and manage the school's network, computers, tablets, and other technological equipment to ensure all systems are functional and up to date.
● Assist with the setup and maintenance of digital classrooms, including interactive displays, online platforms, and learning management systems.
● Provide technical support for faculty during lesson preparation and the integration of technology into their teaching.
● Train staff and students on the effective use of educational technologies, online tools, and digital safety practices.
● Assist in the development and implementation of the school's digital learning strategies, including virtual learning environments and blended learning opportunities.
● Manage IT inventory, ensuring that all hardware and software are properly licensed and functioning.
Additional Duties:
● Attend faculty meetings, professional development sessions, and school events as required.
● Help in maintaining a safe and positive learning environment both in the classroom and within the school's technology infrastructure.
● Work closely with the administration to evaluate and implement new technology initiatives that will enhance the educational experience.
● Support the school's efforts to increase STEM engagement and learning outcomes for all student.
QUALIFICATIONS:
● Bachelor's degree in Education, STEM-related field, or Information Technology (or related area).
● Valid Michigan teaching certification (preferred, but not required).
● Experience in K-8 classroom teaching, preferably in STEM subjects.
● Experience in providing IT support in a school or educational setting is highly desirable.
● Strong knowledge of educational technology tools, hardware, and software.
Skills & Abilities:
● Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot technical issues efficiently.
● Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with students, parents, staff, and administration.
● Ability to adapt teaching methods and IT support based on the unique needs of the school community.
● Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple responsibilities effectively.
● Knowledge of digital learning platforms, coding programs, and current STEM trends is a plus.
