Kitchen Manager
This position is responsible to the Food Service Director. It involves managing and coordinating all aspects of the operation of the Elementary School kitchen which includes meal service for Elementary School and other contracted meal service sites. The position provides oversight for all aspects of the meal service on sight and for the satellite meal service, and for catered meals in the buildings of responsibility. The position involves preparing, cooking and serving food for breakfast and lunch; preparing and supervising the breakfast and lunch areas; contacting substitute staff, as necessary; tabulating meal counts; portioning and packing food and supplies for the satellite sites; completing required portions of production records; coordinating with the Food Service Director to plan menus and acquire necessary food and supplies; stocking shelves; operation and general cleaning of the food service equipment; operating the debit account machine, handling money transactions and preparing daily reports; communicating with school staff to successfully implement the school breakfast and school lunch programs. Regular and reliable attendance is an essential job responsibility.
QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma; ability to supervise effectively, must hold ServSafe certification; must be able to work effectively with students and have the ability to communicate effectively with parents and all school staff. Experience with large quantity food preparation is preferred.
WORK YEAR
All traditional year student days and all ELY year student days plus holidays and vacation days, averaging not less than 7 hours per day. Additional days may be scheduled prior to the opening of school and for special events.
