Since 1981, Smith Brothers Tool Company has been building complex tooling and fabrication solutions for Space, Aerospace, and Defense programs. From assembly and lay-up tools to small and large checking tools and mill fixtures, we design, engineer, manufacture, weld, and certify in-house. Our customers include Boeing, Bell Helicopter, GE Aviation, and Honda Aircraft Company—and we’re looking for a seasoned CNC professional to keep that standard flying high.

A Day in This Role

You arrive at a clean, well-equipped shop and take ownership of a 3- or 5-axis VMC. You review blueprints and GD&T, load programs, verify offsets, and run a first article. You tune feeds and speeds, adjust tool paths, and validate dimensions with micrometers and calipers. When the job runs, you’re watching cut quality, listening for tool wear, and staying a step ahead with preventive maintenance. You safely rig parts with a crane, collaborate with teammates, and keep production on schedule without sacrificing precision.

What You’ll Do

• Set up, adjust, and independently operate CNC milling machines (3-axis and 5-axis—both required).
• Interpret complex blueprints and GD&T to achieve precise tolerances.
• Load, edit, and run G-code/M-code; perform CNC machine changeovers.
• Troubleshoot equipment and process issues to maintain part quality.
• Use precision measurement and hand metrology to verify features.
• Partner with engineering and use CAD/CAM workflows (GibbsCAM).
• Perform preventive maintenance and keep documentation accurate.

What You Bring

• 5+ years of hands-on experience with CNC machines (required).
• Demonstrated ability to run machines independently and meet deadlines.
• Strong shop math, communication skills, and high attention to detail.
• Direct experience with Fidia C20, TPI 2000, Fanuc OiMD, Siemens, and Fadal controls (required).
• Comfort with crane operation and safe material handling.

Nice to Have

• Previous experience in the Aerospace industry.

Compensation, Schedule & Work Type

• Job Type: Full-time
• Schedule options: 10-hour or 12-hour shifts; day shift/night shift; overtime; weekends as needed
• Work Location: In person
• Supplemental Pay: Bonus opportunities
