Project Manager & Business Development Engineer: Security Printing
The Project Manager & Business Development Engineer for Specialty Printing Project serves as the central liaison between the BASF-site and the subcontractor executing specialized printing activities. This multifaceted role ensures the successful collaboration with the sub-contractor, supports operational and administrative processes, contributes to R&D efforts, and will consequently play a central role in moving the project to full production. Additionally, the role includes part-time responsibility for technical sales and optionally sales activities related to BASF Specialty Printing products in North America.

Project Interface & Pilot-Plant Management
- Act as the primary interface between the BASF site and the subcontractor
- Co-Lead the sub-contractor in project administration and operational execution
- Monitor day-to-day activities and resolve site-related issues
- Point-of-Contact (POC) role for a key account
Technology Development
- Participate in research and development activities related to Specialty Printing
- Contribute to the pilot-printing activities (e.g. technical guidance, test planning and execution, process monitoring and documentation, data management)
Administrative & Operational Support
- Support stock management, material ordering, logistics coordination, and EHS compliance
- Maintain accurate documentation of and ensure adherence to site-specific protocols
Process Industrialization
- Lead the transition from pilot-scale to full-scale production (at a later stage)
- Identify and implement process improvements to ensure scalability and reliability
Technical Sales & Business Development (Part-Time)
- Technical activities for Specialty Printing materials in North America.
- Engage with potential customers and provide technical support
- Collaborate with internal teams to align product offerings with market needs
- Take over the commercial sales role as an option
If you have...
- Higher education (Bachelor’s or Master’s degree) in Printing Technology/Engineering, Chemical or Process Engineering, or a related field
- Several years of relevant experience in a roll-to-roll printing environment, preferably in a specialty or functional printing context
- Strong understanding of printing processes, materials, and equipment
- Experience in process development, technology transfer, and industrialization
- Exposure to technical sales or customer-facing roles is a strong plus

- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities
- High attention to detail and commitment to quality and compliance
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic project environment
Location
- Based at the BASF site in Wyandotte, MI.
- Occasional travel within North America required
