CAMW! is a workforce development organization serving Clinton, Eaton, and Ingham counties, partnering with businesses to develop recruiting and retention strategies while helping job seekers access education, training, and career opportunities.

As an Employment Specialist, you'll work directly with job seekers and employers, providing guidance on workforce resources, job search strategies, and talent connection services. Essential Responsibilities

  • Provides customer service to visitors, employers, and job seekers via telephone and in person.
  • Assists job seekers and employers to effectively use the Pure Michigan Talent Connect website, including troubleshooting, problem solving and computer problems, and assisting customers with resumes, cover letters, and job search strategies.
  • Registers job seekers for unemployment.
  • Operates the re-employment program for Clinton, Eaton, and Ingham Counties.
  • Navigates federal and state databases.
  • Creates the monthly workshops calendar for the Ingham American Job Center, as applicable.
  • Keeps events on the camw.org calendar up to date.
  • Schedules and reserves rooms for individuals using the Service Center.
  • Maintains resource information.

What We're Looking For

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • At least 1 year of experience in business, human resources, case management, career/workforce development, or other area of social science is required.
  • Bilingual preferred (any language).
  • Global Career Development Facilitator (GCDF) Certification is preferred.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint) and/or Google applications, databases, and websites is required.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Excellent customer service skills in person and over the phone.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of workforce development programs and resources.Strong understanding of job search activities, community resources, labor market information, and career development.
  • Strong proficiency in Google and Microsoft Suite and internet usage.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong problem-solving and time management skills.
  • Ability to understand and work with diverse populations.
  • Ability to adapt to workload fluctuations and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to engage productively in conflicts that occur.

Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged periods of sitting or standing at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Physical activity that requires movement through the resource room to assist job seekers.
  • Manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard, photocopier, telephone, calculator, and other office equipment.
  • Physical activity that sometimes requires lifting up to 10 lbs.
  • Physical activity that sometimes requires travel by car, train and/or air.
  • Physical activity that sometimes requires bending, stooping, reaching, climbing, kneeling and/or twisting.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust and focus.
  • Must hear, write, and speak English well enough to effectively conduct business over the telephone, computer or face-to-face.
