ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL - HIGH SCHOOL (9-12)

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead the operation of the school in compliance with Board of Education policies under the direction of the Superintendent
- Visionary leadership with planning skills and attention to detail
- Provides for the physical, intellectual, and emotional safety of students and staff in order for effective teaching and learning to take place
- Experience leading and incorporating tiered interventions within the MTSS model and PBIS framework
- Ability to monitor and assess student discipline and attendance data
- Ability to make disciplinary decisions in accordance with the school’s code of conduct
- Ability to represent the district in student IEP and 504 meetings
- Ability to effectively communicate with multiple stakeholder groups verbally and in writing
- Ability to successfully supervise and monitor multiple staff employee groups
- Assist with the planning and administering of high-quality professional development
- Ability to build and sustain positive school culture
- Provide instructional leadership with a coaching and feedback mindset
- Ability to collect and analyze achievement, perception, and demographic data to develop a school improvement plan/vision
- High-level understanding of the Michigan Merit Curriculum
- Partner with the school community to promote student learning
- Participate in school academic, athletic, and co-curricular activities to supervise and advocate for the school
- Assist in the recruiting, screening, and recommending of qualified candidates for positions on the high school staff
- Establish procedures for the evaluation and selection of instructional materials/equipment
- Other duties as assigned by the administration
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master’s Degree in Education (Educational Leadership/Administration preferred) from an accredited college or university required
- Valid Michigan School Administrator Certificate
- Previous administration experience (preferred)
- Minimum five successful years teaching experience (secondary level)
- Strong interpersonal skills, both written and oral
- High degree of technology skills (Google Suite)
- Experience working with at-risk youth
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently walking and standing. In addition, the employee may frequently bend or twist at the neck and back. Specific vision abilities required by this job include peripheral vision and close vision such as to read typewritten material. The employee may occasionally lift up to 25 pounds such as student equipment and wheelchairs.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Position is 44 weeks with the work calendar to be established by the Superintendent and the Board of Education.
COMPENSATION: Salary commensurate with APS administrative salary guide. Benefits include health insurance, life & AD&D insurance, disability insurance, retirement, paid sick time, and phone and mileage stipend.
LOCATION: Allegan High School
