Brick Laborer
Job Description
This role focuses on supporting masonry and concrete projects by preparing sites, handling materials, and assisting with brick, block, and retaining wall construction. You will work on high-end renovation and new construction projects, using hand and power tools, reading basic layouts and blueprints, and ensuring work areas remain clean, safe, and organized.
Responsibilities
- Prepare construction sites by shoveling, raking, compacting, digging, and performing general clean up to ensure safe and efficient work areas.
- Run string lines for layouts and guidance lines to support accurate masonry and site preparation work.
- Assist with masonry, concrete, and brick work, including mixing and applying mortar and working with fine sand and other masonry materials.
- Perform tasks related to concrete finishing, including placing, smoothing, and finishing concrete surfaces as directed.
- Support retaining wall construction, block work, and brick laying by staging materials, assisting masons, and using hand tools and trowels.
- Load and unload building materials safely, organizing supplies and equipment for daily tasks.
- Use hand and power tools to cut, shape, and place masonry materials according to project requirements.
- Read and interpret general prints, layouts, and basic blueprints to understand work scopes and layout requirements.
- Assist with new construction and renovation tasks as needed, including stonemasonry and concrete construction activities.
- Maintain a clean, respectful, and professional presence on high-end renovation sites, protecting existing structures and property.
- Follow safety procedures and guidelines while working with tools, equipment, and materials on active construction sites.
- At least 2 years of experience as a brick or masonry laborer.
- Hands-on experience with masonry, concrete, and brick work.
- Ability to perform site preparation, including shoveling, raking, compacting, digging, and general clean up.
- Experience running string lines for layouts and guidance lines.
- Proficiency working with mortar, fine sand, and other masonry-related materials.
- Ability to read and understand general prints, layouts, and basic blueprints.
- Concrete finishing experience.
- Experience with retaining wall building, block work, and brick work.
- Proficiency using hand tools, including trowels, and basic power tools used in construction and masonry.
- Experience in general construction labor, including new construction and concrete construction.
- Ability to work safely and efficiently in an active construction environment.
- Experience in stonemasonry or related masonry trades.
- Background in high-end renovation projects where attention to detail and respect for property are essential.
- Comfort working with a variety of hand and power tools in a construction setting.
- Ability to follow directions from prints and layouts with minimal supervision.
- Willingness to travel or work away from home with per diem support when eligible.
- Reliability and flexibility to work overtime, including Saturdays, during peak months.
This opportunity offers a direct hire position with long-term project stability and the potential to work into the spring season and beyond. You receive full benefits after 90 days, along with consistent first-shift hours and regular overtime opportunities during peak months. The team supports workers who travel by offering per diem and lodging for eligible individuals, helping reduce out-of-pocket expenses. Work Environment
You will work on a high-end addition and renovation project at a country club, where you must maintain a respectful and professional demeanor and protect the surrounding property. The role is based on a first-shift schedule, typically from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. (or later as needed), Monday through Friday, with an expectation of Saturday overtime from May through June and potentially through July. The work involves outdoor and partially enclosed construction environments, including renovation and new construction areas, where you will regularly use hand tools, trowels, and power tools for masonry and concrete work. Travel support is available for some workers, with per diem and lodging provided for eligible non-local individuals. The job requires standard construction attire suitable for working around concrete, masonry materials, and active equipment, and you will complete onboarding paperwork and provide identification and banking information before starting on site.
