Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the health care team to develop, implement, and evaluate an individualized plan of care based on physiological, psychosocial, and spiritual assessments, using the Clinical Practice Model and Caring-Quality Model
- Provide direct, patient-centered nursing care for a diverse Med-Surg population (general and vascular surgery, bariatric, plastic surgery, trauma, stroke) with emphasis on safety and quality outcomes
- Administer medications, monitor patient status, perform focused assessments, and implement physician orders; document changes accurately in the medical record
- Communicate effectively with the care team using SBAR and participate in interdisciplinary rounds and care coordination
- Demonstrate clinical leadership by sharing knowledge, serving as a resource, and modeling professional practice; support peers as needed
- Adhere to clinical pathways, patient education tools, and evidence-based guidelines to optimize outcomes and patient experience

Requirements
- Current Michigan RN license; license verification via LARA and Nursys required
- BLS (AHA) certification required
- Minimum 2 years of straight Med-Surg experience; not float, not SDU/Telemetry
- Level II or Level I trauma-experience preferred; travel experience supportive
- Education: graduate of an approved nursing program; eligible for Michigan licensure
- Skills checklist completed within one year of application for RN specialties
- Ability to work night shifts (3x12) in a hospital Med-Surg setting
