Cold Header/Threader Setup Operator

PRIMARY PURPOSE OF THE JOB

The principal purpose of this job description is to outline the roles and responsibility of a Cold Header/Threader Set – Up/Operator..

Setup, operate, or tend forging machines to taper, shape, or form metal or plastic parts. Sets up and operates single or multiple

spindle threading machine to thread and chamfer cylindrical stock by performing the following duties.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & DUTIES

1. Start machines to produce sample workpieces and observe operations to detect machine malfunctions and to verify that machine setups conform to specifications.

2. Measure and inspect machined parts to ensure conformance to product specifications.

3. The ability to read, interpret blueprints, and GD&T to determine specified tolerances and sequences of operations for machine setup.

4. Able to set pressures, machine timing and depths of rams strokes to synchronize machine operations.

5. Repair, maintain, and replace parts on dies.

6. Remove dies from machines when production runs are finished.

7. Trim and compress finished forging machines to perform hot or cold forging by flattening, straightening, bending, cutting, piercing, or other operations to taper or form metal.

8. Select, align, and bolt positioning fixtures, stops and specified dies to rams and anvils, forging rolls, or presses and hammers.

9. Sharpen and polish cutting tools and drill bits, using bench grinders.

10. Install, adjust, and remove dies, synchronizing cams, forging hammers, and stop guides, using overhead cranes or other hoisting devices, and hand tools.

11. Position and move metal wires or workpieces through a series of dies that compress and shape stock to form die impressions.

12. The ability to train other in lower grade classifications.

13. The ability to use and understand attitubute and variable gages to target process.

14. Perform comprehensive machine preventive maintenance routines

15. Perform all other duties as assigned, instructed, or directed.

16. Use, understanding, and execution of LEAP/5S, HSE standards.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Must have 1 year or more years of experience as a machine operator or cold header

• Good written and verbal communication.

• Attention to detail.

• Strong mechanical aptitude.

• Positive attitude and decision-making abilities.
