The Role
Join an enthusiastic and groundbreaking team at General Motors in the Global Systems Engineering and System Safety organization. As the Feature Owner for Suspension, you will lead the definition, requirement development, and integration of the Suspension features. You will focus on balancing performance, safety, and innovation across all types of vehicle platforms, ensuring the customer experience exceeds their expectations.
What You'll Do (Responsibilities)
Subject Matter Expert for Suspension features and technology for the corporation and owner of the end-to-end delivery of suspension features, from concept through production and service lifecycle
Define and document feature requirements and ensure alignment with system-level functional, safety, customer, and functional reliability goals
Collaborate with cross-functional teams including controls, software, hardware, validation, electrical, performance, manufacturing, and other stakeholders to achieve enterprise objectives
Lead and advocate for feature integration and alignment activities across vehicle platforms
Manage feature timing, functional readiness assessments, issue resolution, and change management throughout the development lifecycle
Support functional safety activities related to suspension features
Escalates and represents feature issues in technical reviews and provide regular updates to leadership and stakeholders
Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Math, Computer Science, IT or Physics
Minimum 10 years of experience in automotive vehicle dynamics systems or chassis feature development
Minimum 2 years suspension systems design experience
Strong understanding and demonstrated capability in vehicle dynamics, chassis controls, calibrations, vehicle integration and system engineering principles.
Experience with embedded controls
Experience with requirements management and simulation tools (e.g., DNG, MATLAB, carsim, INCA, CAN)
Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills
Possess a valid driver’s license with the ability to operate test vehicles
What Will Give You A Competitive Edge (Preferred qualifications)
Master’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Systems Engineering
Familiarity with model-based development and simulation tools
Prior experience in feature ownership or technical program management
Knowledge of propulsion, steering and braking chassis systems
High degree of Managerial Courage and Comfort with Ambiguity

Company Vehicle: Upon successful completion of a motor vehicle report review, you will be eligible to participate in a company vehicle evaluation program, through which you will be assigned a General Motors vehicle to drive and evaluate. Note: program participants are required to purchase/lease a qualifying GM vehicle every four years unless one of a limited number of exceptions applies.

This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the selected candidate is expected to report to a specific location at least 3 times a week {or other frequency dictated by their manager}.

This position requires the ability to legally operate a motor vehicle on a regular basis and successfully complete a Motor Vehicle Report review.
The position is subject to export control restrictions and requires the successful candidate to be either a U.S. Person (U.S. citizen, U.S. permanent resident, asylee or refugee) or a non-U.S. Person who is eligible to obtain any required export control authorization
