Job Title: CNC Swiss Lathe & CNC Mill Machinist - Night Shift (Two positions available)

Pay Range: $56,700 – $91,500+ per year (with overtime)

Summary and Purpose:

We host a 100,000 sq ft, climate-controlled facility with 3, 4, and 5-Axis CNC Mills, EDM Wires, manual grinders, CNC precision grinders, CNC Lathes, and more. Previous machine operation and setup experience is necessary. You will also have the opportunity to learn other machines. As a Machinist at Moeller Precision Tool, you will work in a highly technical environment focused on precision and efficiency.

Candidates with setup and operation experience with a Swiss lathe or CNC Mill, will be given strong hiring preference.

This is a night shift position.

Pay & Benefits:

• Competitive Compensation: Earn $56,700 – $91,500+ annually depending on experience, with overtime pay available after 40 hours and a night shift premium.

a) Starting hourly rates: $22.25–$32.00/hr (experience-based)

b) Typical earnings with overtime:

i. $56,700/yr at $22.25/hr, assuming ~ 6 OT hrs/week at 1.5×

ii. $91,520/yr at $32.00/hr, assuming ~10 OT hrs/week at 1.5×

c) Night shift premium and additional OT may increase earnings.

Note: Figures reflect estimated annualized earnings including overtime (paid at 1.5× after 40 hours). Actual earnings vary based on hours worked, OT availability, shift premiums, and paid/unpaid time off.

Responsibilities:

In this Machinist role, you will be expected to perform accurate setups and ensure high-quality machining output across multiple platforms.

• Performing proper set-up and calibration procedures for all equipment and accessories
• Setting tolerance levels and speeds
• Translating the requirements of detailed part drawings into measurements for production
• Perform inspection on manufactured parts

Machinist Qualifications:

• Basic math skills (i.e. – Algebra or higher)
• High school Diploma or GED
• Ability to work 8–10 hour shifts and perform physical tasks required of machining.
• Experience in CNC or manual machine set-up and operation
• Blueprint reading skills
• Strong mechanical knowledge
• Previous experience with tool steel preferred
• Familiarity with Mazatrol and Fanuc preferred

Schedule:

• Nights: 5:30 PM – 4:00 AM (M-F)

A normal shift consists of 8-10 hours per day, Monday thru Friday. Mandatory Saturdays are required, but no more than 14 per year. Saturday shift is 12:00 PM – 6:00 PM. Overtime will be required.

Approximation of hours: 45-50 hours per week on average, up to 56 hours with more available upon request.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

The manufacturing shop is highly maintained for cleanliness, including disinfecting and floor scrubbing daily. The entire building is air conditioned and ventilated to maintain cool and clean air quality.

The role may require standing, walking, sitting, and using hands to handle objects. Occasional climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling may be necessary. The ability to lift and/or move up to 40 pounds is essential. Specific vision abilities, including close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment, are required to perform the job effectively.

Location:

Moeller Precision Tool is centrally located within the Metro Detroit area, offering a 45-minute commute from Ann Arbor or Troy, Michigan. You'll have access to various local restaurants for lunch, easy I-96 access, and nearby apartment options.
