Lead Civil Project Manager

Major Contracting Group is seeking a driven and experienced Lead Civil Project Manager to join our leadership team and help manage and deliver high-impact infrastructure and utility projects across the Detroit region.

As a family-owned union contractor with decades of experience, we pride ourselves on delivering complex civil construction projects ahead of schedule, maintaining long-standing client relationships, and supporting a labor force of over 350 skilled tradespeople and 40+ support staff. We are a trusted partner to municipalities, utility companies, and private developers throughout Southeast Michigan.

What You’ll Do

• Lead day-to-day project management of large-scale civil construction projects, including underground utilities, roadwork, site development, and restoration

• Manage schedules, budgets, subcontractors, and crews to ensure on-time, high-quality delivery

• Interface with clients, inspectors, engineers, and vendors to keep all parties aligned and accountable

• Oversee cost tracking, change orders, forecasting, and invoicing

• Mentor and supervise assistant project managers and field teams

• Work directly with company leadership to improve processes, identify opportunities, and help grow the business

What We’re Looking For

• 5+ years of civil construction project management experience (10+ preferred)

• Strong background in underground utilities, roadway construction, and municipal/public works

• Proven ability to manage multiple crews and large self-perform scopes

• Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills

• Familiarity with union labor coordination is a plus

• Proficiency with project management tools, cost tracking, and scheduling software
