Description

Diesel Garage Technician will be responsible for bumper to bumper repairs and troubleshoot/diagnose repairs/electrical issues on vehicle. Business Group – bumper to bumper repair on vehicles, engine work and spots, cab offs are a part of the every day routine, 4 engine swaps in the queue currently, do not do internal transmission but they do everything else: wire harness, install instrumentation, etc.

Daily breakdown – go into the garage, start the job continue where they left off from the previous day, go the team lead assign a work ticket to them, hand them the piece of the vehicle give them an overview of the ticket and what needs to be done, tech will go get the vehicle from the lot bring into the garage put it on a lift and work on what is needed

Work ticket by work ticket, work varies so much, cannot put a number on how many work tickets they will see on a daily/weekly basis

Summary:

The main function of a mechanical technician is to modify test and repair machinery and equipment under direction of engineering staff or physical scientists. A mechanical technician helps engineers design test and manufacture industrial machinery consumer products and other equipment.

Job Responsibilities:

- Review and approve detail drawing or sketch for drafting room completion or to request parts fabrication by machine sheet or wood shops.

- Approve project instructions and blueprints to ascertain test specifications procedures and objectives and test nature of technical problems such as redesign.

- Approve project instructions and specifications to identify modify and plan requirements fabrication assembly and testing.

- Communicate changes in design method of manufacture and assembly and drafting techniques and procedures to staff and approve corrections.

- Review and approve tool drawing designs by measuring drawing dimensions and comparing with original specifications for form and function using engineering skills.

- Supervise tests of complete units and components under operational conditions to investigate proposals for improving equipment performance.

- Analyze test results in relation to design or rated specifications and test objectives and modify or adjust equipment to meet specifications.

- Devise fabricate and assemble new or modified mechanical components for products such as industrial machinery or equipment and measuring instruments.

- Strong ability to make sketches engineering drawings and common computations.

- Strong ability to perform details calculations to compute and establish manufacturing construction and installation standards and specifications.

- Strong knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology.

- Previous experience with computer applications and design software related to engineering field.

Education/Experience:

- Associate's degree in engineering technology or related field required.

- 8-10 years experience required.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

Education requirement – 2 Year Technical Degree (example - UNOH, Baker College)

Years of experience – At least 8 years, but the manager is flexible

Nice to have – chauffer’s license due to trucks getting heavier

Dealership experience on diesels, what they work on at home (project vehicles or something like their family friends) manager will be asking about this in the SSV

Fabrication skills/welding ***BIG BONUS*** they do a lot of this

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $33.00/hr.
