Mercy Hospital's Intensive Care Unit (ICU) is a family-focused, state-of-the-art unit with leading-edge, critical care technology and one of the finest multidisciplinary critical care teams. Caregivers in the ICU provide critical care for patients with life-threatening illnesses or injuries and have either sustained or are at risk of suffering the failure of one or more vital functions, systems, or organs. Patients in the ICU require rigorous care and monitoring to reverse their near-fatal conditions and temporarily support them while they recover. Types of procedures on this unit include intubation, TTM, CRRT, bronchoscopy, ICP monitoring, organ donation, and post-operative care.
By joining Mercy Hospital's Intensive Care Unit (ICU) as a Health Unit Coordinator, you will provide a high level of customer service to patients, families, visitors and caregivers to promote and support the highest level of patient experience. You will perform administrative and clerical duties to ensure efficient operational flow within the ICU, showing passion for improving outcomes for patients each and every day.
**A caregiver in this position works evenings from 3:00PM - 11:30PM, including rotating holidays.**
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
+ Conduct an in-person greeting, welcome and orientation to the unit for newly admitted and transferred patients.
+ Respond to patient call lights and make rounds.
+ Communicate and facilitate communication with patients, families, other departments and health care team members regarding patient care.
+ Assist with processing patient admissions, transfers and discharges.
+ Assist patients and families with wayfinding and direct them to available resources.
+ Assemble and maintain patient medical records and other documents related to patient care.
+ Assist with unit clerical functions and in trouble-shooting equipment failures, such as call system, portable phones, WOWs and other unit devices.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
+ High School Diploma or GED
+ One year of experience in a customer service-related role
+ Experience with typing, computer training or equivalent coursework
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
+ College degree
+ Microsoft Office experience
**Physical Requirements:**
+ Requires full range of motion, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination.
+ Requires frequent data entry, standing and walking for extensive periods of time.
+ Requires normal or corrected speech, hearing and vision.
+ Requires some exposure to communicable disease or body fluids.
**Personal Protective Equipment:**
+ Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
**Pay Range**
Minimum hourly: $18.25
Maximum hourly: $24.95
