LPN Charge Nurse

Calhoun County Medical Care Facility
Battle Creek, MI

Job Description

Job Description

About Company:

At Calhoun County Medical Care Facility (CCMCF), our goal is to provide purposeful living solutions to persons who need assistance. The need may be long-term medical care, short-term rehabilitation, or adult day care services. To provide these services, we are always on the lookout for skilled nurses, individuals interested in becoming certified nursing assistants, and professionals looking to have a career in long-term care.

If you are an individual who loves to help serve others, possess deep compassion, and understands your role transcends merely a job or volunteer opportunity – it is, in every sense, a calling, then we want you!

About the Role:

The LPN Charge Nurse plays a pivotal leadership role within the healthcare team at CCMCF, ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient care in a dynamic clinical environment. This position is responsible for overseeing nursing staff, coordinating patient care activities, and serving as a critical liaison between nursing personnel, physicians, and other healthcare professionals. The Charge Nurse ensures compliance with healthcare regulations and institutional policies while fostering a safe and supportive environment for both patients and staff. By managing resources effectively and addressing any clinical or operational issues promptly, the Charge Nurse contributes to the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the healthcare unit. Ultimately, this role is essential in maintaining continuity of care, promoting best practices, and enhancing patient outcomes through strong leadership and clinical expertise.

Qualifications:

  • Current and valid Licensed Practical Nurse ( LPN) license in the Michigan.
  • Previous experience in nursing or other medical fields is a plus, but not required.
  • Demonstrated leadership or charge nurse experience is highly desirable.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
  • Strong knowledge of nursing principles, patient care standards, and healthcare regulations.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the treatment of assigned residents.
  • Supervise and coordinate nursing activities to ensure optimal patient care and staff performance.
  • Monitor patient conditions and intervene as necessary to address changes or emergencies.
  • Serve as a resource and mentor to nursing staff, providing guidance and support in clinical decision-making.
  • Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement patient care plans.
  • Ensure compliance with policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct shift reports and facilitate effective communication during handoffs.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and staff education programs.
  • Maintain accurate resident medical records using an electronic medical record.

Skills:

The LPN Charge Nurse utilizes strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills daily to evaluate patient conditions and make informed decisions that impact care delivery. Leadership and communication skills are essential for effectively coordinating nursing staff, facilitating teamwork, and ensuring clear information exchange among healthcare providers. Organizational skills enable the Charge Nurse to manage multiple priorities, delegate tasks appropriately, and maintain smooth unit operations. Proficiency with electronic health records and documentation supports accurate patient data management and compliance with regulatory standards. Additionally, problem-solving abilities are applied to address staffing challenges, patient concerns, and unexpected clinical situations, ensuring a safe and efficient care environment.

Equal Opportunity Employer
We welcome all qualified applicants regardless of race, color, religion, national origin, age, sex, height, marital status, or disability unrelated to job performance.
