Per Diem Occupational Therapist

As one of the largest senior living communities in the nation—offering Independent Living, Assisted Living, and Skilled Nursing on a single campus—we are seeking a Per Diem/Contingent Occupational Therapist to join our Skilled Nursing team and help our residents achieve the highest possible quality of life.
Position Overview:
As an Occupational Therapist at Allegria Village, you'll play a critical role in helping residents regain or maintain independence and functional mobility. This is a per diem/contingent position ideal for a flexible, experienced OT who excels in both individualized care and interdisciplinary collaboration.
Key Responsibilities:
Evaluate residents and develop customized treatment plans in accordance with clinical standards and physician orders
Deliver high-quality occupational therapy interventions aimed at improving mobility, independence, and activities of daily living (ADLs)
Educate patients and families on safety, energy conservation, joint protection, and adaptive techniques for home and facility use
Collaborate with nursing, therapy, and support staff to coordinate care and ensure achievement of functional goals
Design and instruct individualized home programs for patients and caregivers
Document assessments, progress notes, and care plans accurately and in a timely manner
Participate in interdisciplinary meetings and patient support groups
Provide guidance and delegation to therapy support staff to ensure efficient, safe care delivery
Perform other duties as assigned to support overall resident care and departmental goals
Qualifications:
Minimum of 1 year of clinical experience in a Skilled Nursing or Long-Term Care setting preferred
Knowledge of aging-related conditions, rehab care models, and therapy goals for geriatric populations
Strong organizational, communication, and documentation skills
Compassionate, resident-first mindset with a collaborative work ethic
Ability to problem-solve and adapt to changing patient needs
Familiarity with adaptive equipment and tools for therapeutic use
Ability to travel within the facility as needed
Education & Certification Requirements:
Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Doctorate degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited institution
Active licensure in the State of Michigan (or eligible)
Current registration with the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA)
CPR certification preferred
Working knowledge of applicable federal, state, and professional guidelines for SNF therapy
Physical Demands:
Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs
Frequent walking, standing, bending, reaching, pushing, pulling, kneeling, crouching, and assisting with patient mobility
Must be physically able to transfer patients and assist with positioning and therapy exercises
