Part-Time Custodian

General Description of Duties: The part time custodian’s goal is to ensure the cleanliness of St. Michael Lutheran Church and School. The position will work primarily in the school wing but may be asked to help in other areas as needed.

Hours: The typical work week will consist of 25-30 hours. Suggested hours are Wednesday-Sunday from 3:30pm to 9:00pm and are flexible based on the needs and schedule of the school and congregation.

Duties will include, but are not limited to the following :

· Keep equipment maintained and in good working condition

· Strip and wax all the floors which is usually done during the summer, Christmas, and Spring breaks

· Set up tables and chairs for special events such as funerals, weddings, etc.

· Have full knowledge of floor cleaning machines

· Changing of light bulbs

· Stocking and cleaning of restrooms

· Emptying of trash cans and recycling

· Vacuuming of carpet, rugs and pews

· Dusting of fixtures, hangings and general cleaning

· Hard floor mopping, sweeping, stripping, and waxing, removing of black marks

· Notify supervisor of low supply stock and restocking

· Window washing / cleaning

· Maintaining general organization

· Sanctuary: vacuum seats, pews, keep candle burning, clean sacristy restroom at least weekly, sweep and mop the floor of the pew area Mondays and music area in the back regularly.

Other Desired functions (not required):

· Trash pickup around front of property

· Painting – project jobs mostly internal

· Spring weeding around building

· Ability to work with contractors when needed

· Report or be part of the Board of Properties of events, issues, updates…etc.
