Social Worker Job Details

• Location: Jackson, Michigan (Charles Anderson Building, Main Campus)
• Assignment Length: 18 weeks (September 1, 2025 – January 3, 2026)
• Schedule: 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM, rotating schedule
• Shifts per Week: 5 (40 hours guaranteed)
• Weekend Coverage: 2-3 weekends per month required
• Unit: General Adult Inpatient Mental Health (average caseload: 4-8 patients)
• Estimated Weekly Salary: $1290–$1330 per week

Social Worker Qualifications

• 2-3 years of social work experience (inpatient behavioral health or mental health preferred)
• Master's degree from an accredited school of social work
• Current LMSW (Licensed Master Social Worker) certification in Michigan
• Previous travel social worker or locum tenens experience preferred
• Experience working with multidisciplinary healthcare teams
• Ability to perform intake assessments and lead group therapy sessions
• Experience charting in EMR/EMH systems (EPIC experience preferred)
• Weekend availability required

Social Worker Responsibilities

• Collaborate with psychiatrists and interdisciplinary healthcare teams to develop and manage patient treatment plans
• Serve as a liaison between the hospital, community resources, and insurers to facilitate patient care
• Conduct bio-psychosocial assessments, discharge planning, and provide individual, family, and group education
• Lead group therapy sessions and provide crisis intervention as needed
• Ensure safe, effective, patient-centered, and equitable care in an inpatient behavioral health setting
• Participate in designated committees and serve as a field instructor for social work students, as qualified
