The Controller position is responsible for all financial aspects of the company. This includes, but is not limited to, ultimate responsibility for accurate and timely financial statements, monitoring cash flow, A/R and A/P management, cash receipts, driving top-line revenue, and effectively managing organizational expenditures.
Responsibilities also include oversight of annual budget and monthly forecast process/review, continuous cash flow forecasting, developing and maintaining an effective internal control environment, supervising accounting team functions, and oversight of the annual audit and tax filings.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Prepare annual financial budget, monthly actual to budget comparison and monthly financial forecast
Continuous cash flow forecasting
Manage all accounting operational functions
Ensure all appropriate internal controls are in place and adhered to
Provide management with data needed to inform decision making
Develop and monitor business performance metrics
Support organizational planning process, as needed
Tax planning, reporting and filing
Review & manage corporate insurance policies
Support franchise owners in sales initiatives and improving store-level profitability
Provide financial insights and guidance to help franchisees understand performance drivers, identify opportunities, and implement best practices for operational and financial success
Manage performance and development needs of all direct reports through annual performance planning and regular performance communication

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Evaluate and enhance accounting processes to improve efficiency, accuracy, and compliance.
Identify opportunities for automation and standardization, implement best practices, and ensure alignment with evolving business needs and regulatory requirements.
Minimum Requirements
Education
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required
Master’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred
Experience
Minimum of 3-5 years in Public Accounting
Minimum of 10 years of managerial experience in Accounting
Experience working in or with a franchise system required
Experience with accounting software
Experience managing remote teams preferred
Knowledge
Extensive understanding of financial accounting principles and reporting
Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and compliance
Understanding franchise business environment and regulations
Experience in tax/tax planning preferred
Knowledge of auditing standards
High level of proficiency working within the MS Office Suite with an emphasis on MS Excel
Proficient in budget development, adherence and forecasting
Understanding of QSR/retail operations and unit economics, with the ability to analyze and influence profitability at the store level

Licensing / Professional Certification
CPA license is preferred
