DeltaV Engineer

We are seeking an experienced DeltaV Automation Engineer to join our client's team in Kalamazoo, MI, supporting automation projects within the Life Sciences industry, including biopharmaceutical and medical device manufacturing.

In this role, you’ll design and implement Emerson DeltaV control systems in a system integration environment, delivering reliable, compliant, and fit-for-purpose automation solutions. You’ll collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams and work directly with clients to support projects that contribute to global healthcare.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, configure, and implement Emerson DeltaV control systems in accordance with customer specifications, internal standards, and industry best practices
• Design and program DeltaV batch processes following ISA-88 standards
• Collaborate with clients to gather requirements and develop customized automation solutions
• Design system architecture, instrumentation specifications, and control strategies to improve manufacturing efficiency
• Configure DeltaV controllers, HMI, applications, and historian solutions while ensuring compliance with GAMP 5, cGMP, and 21 CFR Part 11
• Execute Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT)
• Provide on-site startup, commissioning, and troubleshooting support
• Support system validation and documentation throughout the software development lifecycle
• Work closely with electrical, process, validation engineers, and project managers to deliver projects on time and within budget
• Mentor junior engineers and technicians

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Control Systems Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related field
• 5 to 10+ years of experience in automation and control systems engineering, preferably with Emerson DeltaV
• Strong experience with ISA-88 batch processing and DeltaV Batch configuration
• Experience with historian systems, alarm management, and advanced control strategies
• Knowledge of industrial communication protocols including HART, Foundation Fieldbus, Profibus, Modbus TCP/IP, Ethernet/IP, and OPC
• Strong understanding of process control strategies, loop tuning, and system integration
• Knowledge of industrial networking between controllers, servers, and HMIs
• Experience in regulated manufacturing environments and familiarity with GAMP5, cGMP, and 21 CFR Part 11
• Ability to translate functional requirements into detailed software designs
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in industrial environments
• Willingness to travel up to 25%

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in Life Sciences manufacturing (biotech, pharmaceutical, or medical devices)
• Familiarity with Rockwell Automation, Siemens PCS7, or other DCS/SCADA systems
• Working knowledge of AutoCAD and electrical design principles
• Experience supporting validation documentation and regulated commissioning activities
