Position Description: We are looking for an Entry Level Civil/Environmental Engineer to join our Community Design Team to improve infrastructure in our Traverse City office. Candidates must possess a bachelor's degree in civil or environmental engineering and have zero to four years of related experience. The candidate must also be self-motivated, work well with others, and have excellent writing, organizational, and communication skills. A flexible hybrid-remote work schedule is available after 90 days of employment. Typical responsibilities include:- Design civil projects that may include water mains, sanitary sewers, storm sewers, roads, bridges, open drains, pedestrian pathways, parks, utility/miscellaneous infrastructure improvement designs, etc.
- Perform evaluations, and prepare design reports including opinion of construction costs
- Develop construction plans using local and state standards
- Review and interpret plans and specifications
- Prepare/assist with technical specifications and permit submittals
- Assist Project Managers with review of scope, budget, and schedule of new project tasks
- Self-monitor task budgets and progress
- Document design changes and communications
- Conduct on-site inspections and field evaluations as needed for design purposes
- Prepare project status reports, technical memorandums and other written correspondence
- Assist in the preparation of proposals and scope of work
- Assist Project Managers as needed
- Attend client, public, project and staff meetings
- Maintain excellent client relations
- Maintain a safe working environment
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering
- 0 to 4 years of related experience
