Server Assistant

At Mad Nice, new ideas meet timeless, classic technique, with an unexpected modern Italian menu, surrounded by coastal chic decor and mid-century design with smooth, sophisticated service in midtown Detroit. The Service Assistant is an integral part of the team at Mad Nice. They are responsible for executing set standards of service and making sure our guests have the best possible experience. Ensuring that hot food is delivered hot, cold drinks are delivered cold and the team is supported is crucial. The beverage program at Mad Nice features classically driven cocktails inspired by the California coast, Italian Soul with a Detroit sauce. Our menu will be ever evolving with the seasons and focused on using fresh ingredients and local produce. Along with a full bar offering we will have a modern Italian menu featuring wood fired pizzas, naturally leavened breads and handmade pastas

In addition to the above, we look for people that possess the following knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the role. However, we are always willing to train anyone with the right attitude and desire to grow, as you can't teach hospitality.
- 1+ years of serving experience, preferably in a high volume or fine dining setting.
- A general understanding of Food, Liquor, Wine and Beer - with a passion to continue a higher level of understanding on all of these subjects.
- Ability to follow and execute steps of service.
- Understanding that we are curators of experiences, not order takers.
- A drive to be organized.
- Ability to maintain menu knowledge - including allergies, restrictions, modifications etc.
- An understanding of anticipatory service.
- A deep understanding of our menu, our execution of service and our standards following training, and the ability and desire to consistently deliver on all of the above.
- Capable to understand and solve problems with a calm and collective demeanor.
- Understand the importance of community outreach and contributing to the neighborhood
