Why this role matters- Protect uptime by responding rapidly to production issues and eliminating repeat failures.
- Execute precise changeovers, soldering tasks, and adhesive dispense adjustments to meet schedule and quality goals.
- Build capabilities—from troubleshooting to PLC/HMI modifications and robot path edits—over three progressive levels.
- Irregular schedules may be required.
- Exposure to chemicals, high voltage, loud noise, and hazardous waste.
- Strict adherence to health, safety, and environmental policies; correct handling/disposal of hazardous materials is mandatory.
- Start up/shut down work centers and perform changeovers.
- Troubleshoot basics on pneumatics, soldering, robots, tip changers, and assembly fixtures.
- Complete barrel/drum changes and weight checks; understand production metrics and escalation.
- Document all PMs/repairs in the CMMS; keep crossover notes and equipment logs current.
- Other duties as assigned; follow all HSE requirements.
- All Level 1 responsibilities, plus:
- Diagnose PLCs, hydraulics, pneumatics, servo drives, and vision systems.
- Read/apply electrical schematics, pneumatic prints, and blueprints; replace hydraulic/pneumatic components.
- Rebuild solder heads; troubleshoot robot programs; verify quality with gauging fixtures.
- Other duties as assigned; follow all HSE requirements.
- All Level 2 responsibilities, plus:
- Modify robot paths; teach/calibrate vision systems; update HMI screens.
- Create/modify PLC ladder logic, HMI applications, pneumatic diagrams, and electrical schematics.
- Apply GD use metrology tools; work with industrial network protocols.
- Optimize soldering processes; replace and tune servo drives.
- Produce blueprints/drawings to support engineering designs.
- Train maintenance/production teams; aid skills assessments and recommend/deliver training.
- Drive problem-solving and continuous improvement projects.
- Other duties as assigned; follow all HSE requirements.
- 1–3 years in mechanical or automation machine repair.
- Proven troubleshooting across assigned equipment.
- Mechanical aptitude with pneumatics and electrical.
- Team-oriented communication skills (written and verbal).
- English required; Spanish bilingual preferred.
- All Level 1 requirements, plus:
- Associate’s in a technical field and/or significant related experience or completed apprenticeship (journeyman) with 2–3 years in automation.
- 4–6 years of experience repairing automation, hydraulic, and electrical systems.
- PLC/HMI navigation, connectivity, and troubleshooting proficiency.
- Ability to modify Allen Bradley PLC code and update HMI applications.
- Experience optimizing vision sensor programs.
- Industrial robotics exposure (ABB preferred) with troubleshooting and minor program edits.
- Comfort with electrical schematics, blueprints, and pneumatic/hydraulic diagrams.
- All Level 2 requirements, plus:
- 7+ years progressive automation/maintenance experience with advanced programming and troubleshooting.
- Expertise rebuilding machinery and integrating hydraulic, pneumatic, electronic, and robotic systems.
- Advanced PLC ladder logic, HMI, and pneumatic/electrical diagram development.
- Vision calibration and advanced robot path modification skills.
- GD&T knowledge and precision metrology proficiency.
- Ability to support design reviews and ensure compliance with codes, safety standards, and maintainability.
- Stand 8–12 hours per day.
- Lift up to 35 lbs repeatedly per hour.
- Frequent bending, twisting, turning, and lifting.
- Repetitive hand use: gripping, grasping, pinching, squeezing.
- PLC (Allen Bradley) and HMI platforms.
- Core strengths: mechanical troubleshooting, PM/inspection, industrial robot programming, pneumatics troubleshooting, maintenance and repair, CNC setup and changeover.
