Full Stack Software Engineer (AI/ML)

You'll be joining the Strategy & Enterprise Analytics (SEA) team within the GDIA organization, specifically within the Legal Services Analytics Product Line. This team develops innovative, cloud-native data, AI, and analytics solutions for Ford. We provide data, AI/ML, and advanced analytics solutions to internal partners (The Office of General Counsel) to enable them taking informed decision.
What You'll Do:
- Front-End Development (60-70% of time):
- Develop and maintain user interfaces for our legal service analytics platform using Angular 15+, TypeScript, HTML, and CSS.
- Create interactive data visualizations and dashboards using Plotly Dash to analyze legal data such spend and repair interactions.
- Write clean, well-documented, and testable code following established coding standards.
- Collaborate closely with UI/UX designers to implement user-friendly and visually appealing interfaces that effectively communicate complex data insights.
- Participate in code reviews to ensure code quality and share knowledge with the team.
- Back-End Development (30-40% of time):
- Assist in developing and maintaining RESTful APIs using Node.js with Express to support our front-end applications.
- Work with PostgreSQL databases to store and retrieve data related to application sessions, user profiles, and infrastructure information.
- Learn about server-side logic and how it interacts with the front-end Angular application.
- Write unit tests and integration tests for back-end APIs.
- General Responsibilities:
- Participate in agile development processes, including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of our development practices (CI/CD pipelines, testing strategies, etc.).
- Troubleshoot and debug software issues across the full stack.
- Learn new technologies and techniques to stay up-to-date with industry trends in front-end and back-end development, particularly in the context of Legal Service analytics.
- Contribute to technical documentation for our platform and APIs.
- A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience)
- Solid understanding of fundamental programming concepts (data structures, algorithms, object-oriented programming).
- Minimum of 3+ years experience with JavaScript and a modern JavaScript framework (Angular preferred, but React or node.js experience is a plus).
- Strong proficiency in HTML and CSS.
- Experience with data visualization libraries (Plotly Dash is a big plus).
- Basic understanding of RESTful APIs and protocols.
- Familiarity with Git and version control workflows (e.g., Gitflow).
- A strong desire to learn and a passion for software development, particularly in the area of sustainable transportation and vehicles.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
