International Servicing Representative
UAW Heavy Truck Department
The UAW Heavy Truck Department Servicing Representative assists regions and local unions with support pertaining to bargaining, grievances, arbitrations and any other inquires that may arise pertaining to the specific industry. This role also involves mentoring local leadership with questions that may arise pertaining to their Collective Bargaining Agreements and their rights under those agreements. The Representative is also directly responsible for negotiating Master Collective Agreements that fall under the department.
This position will be based at the UAW Solidarity House located in Detroit, MI, but servicing will take place across all regions within the U.S. This will include extensive travel, which will require extended stays out of town on nights and weekends. The travel demand of the position requires that the Representative be able to fly and drive to assignments as needed.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist locals and units in contract negotiations: developing and drafting demands, contract language, initial proposals, and counterproposals
- Assist in organizing membership mobilizations and campaign strategies to win strong contracts
- Assist with grievance handling, disciplinary proceedings, arbitrations
- Working with UAW International support departments as needed to support locals and regions
- Assist locals in the coordination of political advocacy efforts, including coordinating with National and Regional CAP Representatives when needed
- Participate in lobbying efforts in Congress to support our locals as needed with winning new work and maintaining current work
- Participate in activities and priorities including organizing, strike assistance, political and legislative advocacy campaigns
- Maintain up to date knowledge of the evolving industries including commercial companies, products, and industry outlook
- Lead and facilitate meetings and workshops
- Completion of assigned tasks and projects on time and in a professional manner
- Support International Union, UAW institutional policies, procedures, and objectives
Knowledge, Experience and Skills:
- Collective bargaining experience as a negotiator or bargaining committeeperson
- Grievance handling and Arbitration experience
- Experience with organizing current or new members
- Flexibility to work long hours, including nights and weekends
- Good listener with strong verbal and written communication skills
- Familiar with basic labor law
- Ability to work independently, solve problems and manage time and priorities
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, and remote meeting software
- Ability to lead a team and mentor other staff
- Strong attention to detail
- Commitment to confidentiality and discretion
- Possess a valid driver’s license
- Ability to travel – sometimes with little to no advance notice
- Flexibility to work long and varied hours, including nights and weekends

Salary and Benefits
This is a full time, in person position based in Detroit, Michigan. The UAW offers a competitive salary for this position, including health, retirement, and other benefits. Relocation may be available.
