Job Description:
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Line Cook / Prep Cook to join our culinary team at Nonna's Trattoria, an upscale restaurant specializing in Italian and French cuisine. The ideal candidate will have a passion for cooking, a strong work ethic, and a desire to learn and grow in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare ingredients for cooking, including chopping vegetables, preparing meats, and other food preparation tasks as needed.
- Assist with cooking and plating dishes according to our restaurant’s recipes and standards.
- Maintain a clean and organized workstation, following all safety and sanitation guidelines.
- Ensure all food is prepared to the highest quality and presentation standards.
- Work collaboratively with the kitchen team to ensure timely service and customer satisfaction.
- Follow directions from the Executive Chef and Sous Chef accurately and efficiently.
- Assist in inventory management and restocking of kitchen supplies.
- Perform routine kitchen cleaning tasks, including dishwashing, equipment cleaning, and garbage disposal.
- Adapt to various duties in the kitchen as required, maintaining flexibility and readiness.
Requirements:
- Minimum of 1 year experience working as a Line Cook or Prep Cook in a restaurant setting.
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
- Must have reliable transportation to and from work.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including mornings, lunch, dinner shifts, weekends, and Sunday mornings.
- Strong ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to follow directions effectively.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and ability to multitask.
- Positive attitude, strong work ethic, and a passion for cooking.
Desired (but not required) Qualifications:
- Experience with ordering product and maintaining vendor relationships.
- Knowledge of food costing and portion control.
- Scheduling and staff coordination experience.
- Inventory management skills.
- Contribution to menu development and recipe creation.
