Cardiac Stepdown RN Job Details

• Location: Dayton, Ohio (45409) – Ohio nursing jobs
• Facility: Advanced Care Cardiac Stepdown Unit
• Position Type: Locum Tenens / Travel Registered Nurse
• Contract Length: 13 weeks (16–20 weeks preferred)
• Start Date: October 6, 2025
• End Date: January 5, 2026
• Shift: Night shifts, 3x12-hour (19:00 – 07:30)
• Weekly Hours: 36
• Estimated Weekly Salary Range: $1950-$2000
• Patient Ratios: 1:4 (may flex to 1:5–6)
• Scrub Color: Navy Blue

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Active RN license (any state); compact nursing license accepted
• Minimum 2 years' recent experience in a large hospital (Level 1 or Level 2 trauma center preferred)
• Prior travel RN or locum tenens nursing experience preferred
• BLS and ACLS certifications required; NIH Stroke Certification preferred
• Proficient in EPIC charting and electronic medical records
• Must pass online EKG/telemetry competency assessment
• Experience with ventilator and tracheostomy care required
• IV start proficiency and ability to read/interpret cardiac strips
• Flu vaccination required (medical/religious exemptions considered)
• Available to work every other weekend and holiday
• Willingness to float to other units or campuses as needed

Cardiac Stepdown RN Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality patient care to adults with cardiac and complex medical conditions (DKA, GI bleed, COPD, pneumonia, stroke, sepsis, urology complications, and more)
• Interpret cardiac monitors, manage cardiac drips, and provide advanced cardiac nursing care
• Perform ventilator and tracheostomy management
• Manage chest tubes, drains, and advanced medical equipment
• Start and maintain IVs, administer medications, and perform phlebotomy
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams (IV, respiratory, PT, pharmacy, social services, etc.)
• Float to other nursing units or hospital campuses as assigned
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation using EPIC EMR
• Demonstrate strong time management and critical thinking skills in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment
