About Michigan Wellbeing
Michigan Wellbeing is a fully virtual mental health clinic offering modern, affirming, and integrative care to individuals, couples, and families across the state. We are redefining mental healthcare by going beyond traditional therapeutic models, integrating evidence-based approaches with deeper, whole-person methods rooted in psychodynamic and relational therapy, somatic practices, family systems, polyvagal theory, mindfulness, and expressive therapies.
Visit to explore our services and learn more about our vision for holistic mental health care in Michigan.
Our mission is twofold:
- To provide high-quality mental health services that honor identity, address root causes, and support long-term holistic wellbeing.
- To train and support clinicians in delivering inclusive, compassionate care, equipping them with the tools, supervision, and support needed to grow into confident, well-rounded therapists.
We specialize in working with neurodivergent clients (ADHD, autism, giftedness) and LGBTQIA+ communities, while also supporting clients facing trauma, anxiety, depression, identity development, parenting challenges, executive function concerns, and more. We see a wide clients for a wide variety of issues, and we work with individuals of all ages, including children, teens, college students, adults, couples, and whole families.
Position Overview
We are currently seeking an LLMSW licensed in Michigan to join our growing clinical team. This role is designed for clinicians who are open to working with a wide variety of clients, including individuals, couples, families, children, and teens, and who are eager to expand their experience within a supportive, training-centered environment.
Because of the structure of our clinic and our integrative training model, we are only able to hire clinicians who are comfortable working across these populations and comfortable working with a wide variety of issues. We assign clients to you directly based on clinical fit and availability.
If you already have an existing caseload and your current practice allows you to bring clients with you, we are open to that as well, provided your clients are covered by insurances we accept (Blue Cross Blue Shield, Aetna, or Priority Health).
What You Can Expect from This Role
Training-Focused Clinical Support
This is a supervised learning environment ideal for early-career professionals. You will receive weekly clinical supervision with a licensed LMSW, ongoing guidance from the clinic director, and opportunities to participate in optional trainings throughout the year. We are committed to helping you deepen your clinical skills, explore new theories and modalities, and develop confidence in your professional identity.
Administrative and Scheduling Support
We take care of all backend operations so you can focus on client care. This includes:
- Insurance credentialing
- Billing and claims submission
- Insurance verification
- Client scheduling and communication
We use SimplePractice as our CRM, which integrates with your personal calendar so that client sessions are scheduled directly based on your true availability, helping avoid conflicts and double-booking. We also create ZocDoc profiles for each clinician, allowing new clients to book directly with you.
Your Responsibilities
- Providing virtual therapy to individuals, couples, families, teens, and children
- Completing progress notes within 24 hours of sessions
- Developing treatment plans and keeping documentation current
- Attending regular supervision and integrating feedback from your supervisor
- Preparing for sessions and continuing to develop your clinical tools
- Participating in trainings, team meetings, and team consultations when available
- Keeping your calendar availability up to date so we can schedule based on your availability
- Maintaining an up-to-date calendar at all times, utilizing correct CPT codes and modifiers, and keeping up regular and reliable communication with our team
- Additional clinical responsibilities will be discussed and outlined in your contract
Caseload and Growth Expectations
We have been operating for about a year now and have established a steady stream of client referrals. New clinicians can expect to receive a few new clients per week, allowing you to build a full caseload within a reasonable timeframe. The minimum caseload we expect clinicians to carry is 15 to 20 clients. That said, we do not push clinicians to carry more than they are able to, and we are always open to conversations about what feels sustainable for you.
We are looking for clinicians who want to build their caseload within one clinic rather than splitting time between multiple practices. For clinicians under supervision, splitting clients across practices also means splitting supervision across practices, which tends to lead to less cohesive support and less effective oversight of your clinical work. If you are seeking a professional home where you can focus your energy, grow alongside a supportive team, and see all of your clients through one practice, Michigan Wellbeing will be a great fit for you.
Client Population
Our clients represent a diverse range of identities, backgrounds, and presenting concerns. While many are neurodivergent or LGBTQIA+, concerns may also include trauma, relational issues, anxiety, depression, parenting, and emotional regulation. You will have the opportunity to work across clinical areas and developmental stages. If a client issue is beyond your training or scope of practice, we will not assign it to you.
Compensation
- LLMSWs: 50/50 split
- LMSWs: 60/40 split (60% to you)
Clinicians are paid after insurance reimbursement or client payment is received. Insurance and self-pay sessions typically result in a range of $120 to $165 per session total before the split, so with your split you can generally expect a minimum of $60 per session.
All supervision, case consultations, trainings, insurance services, and administrative services are included at no cost to you.
Insurance We Accept
We are currently paneled with:
- Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan
- Aetna
- Priority Health
We do not accept Medicaid, Medicare, or other insurance plans at this time.
Minimum Requirements
- LLMSW or LMSW (or pending license) in the state of Michigan
- Willingness to work with a broad caseload: individuals, children, teens, families, and couples
- Commitment to inclusive, trauma-informed, and neurodiversity-affirming care
- Strong communication and organization skills, with timely documentation
- Openness to feedback, learning, and collaborative team culture
Previous clinical experience is preferred for our applicants.
To Apply
We receive a high volume of applications, and as a small team, we are not able to schedule initial interviews with every applicant. To help us best utilize our time and give each application the attention it deserves, we ask that you submit a brief video introduction as part of your application.
Please record a brief, informal video (5 to 10 minutes is fine) answering the following questions:
- Tell us a little bit about yourself. Who are you, what matters to you, and what are you looking for at this stage of your career?
- How much experience have you had providing therapy? How long have you been providing therapy for and at what locations?
- What is your approach to therapy, and what modalities or frameworks do you draw from?
- What populations or clinical areas do you most enjoy working with?
- Why are you interested in integrative mental health, and what draws you to a clinic like Michigan Wellbeing?
- Are you comfortable working with a broad range of clients, including individuals, couples, families, children, and teens?
Why a video? A short video introduction allows us to get a sense of who you are and how you communicate, and it gives you a chance to share more about yourself than a resume alone can capture. We review every video we receive, and based on your submission, we may reach out to schedule a follow-up interview.
Not sure how to record? You can use your smartphone camera, your computer's built-in camera, or a free tool like Loom (loom.com) which generates a shareable link. If the file is too large to email, you can upload it to Google Drive and share the link with us.
Send your recording to [email protected] along with:
- Your resume or CV
- 2 to 3 time slots in the next two weeks when you would be available to meet if you move forward to the interview phase
- The name, contact information, and relationship of one professional reference who can speak to your clinical abilities (such as a past supervisor, professor, or clinical director)
We will only contact your reference if you advance to the next phase of our hiring process, and we will notify you before reaching out so you can let them know to expect our call.
A cover letter is welcome but not required.
Diversity and Inclusion
We strongly encourage applications from BIPOC, LGBTQIA+, neurodivergent, and multilingual clinicians. We believe diverse lived experience strengthens clinical insight and enhances the care we provide.
