A Day in the Field

Morning finds you walking the production floor at a customer’s foundry, clipboard in hand, commissioning a new automated molding cell. You verify wiring, pneumatics, and hydraulics, then conduct a full run-off to confirm performance and safety align with factory specifications. By midday, you’re deep into a diagnostic session on a high-voltage control issue—scoping signals, tracing schematics, and swapping components to isolate the root cause. Afternoon wraps with hands-on operator training and a debrief, followed by clear service notes and parts usage logged through our digital tools.

What You’ll Do

• Lead system installation and run-off for new equipment—validating that each machine meets spec and safety before handover.
• Diagnose and repair complex mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical problems; execute emergency fixes to reduce downtime in foundry and automotive plant environments.
• Perform scheduled preventive maintenance to maximize uptime and extend equipment life.
• Train customer operators and maintenance staff on safe operation and first-line troubleshooting.
• Document service activities, parts, and expenses accurately; familiarity with ERP reporting (e.g., Syteline) is a plus.
• Provide remote technical support to customers and internal teams when you’re not on the road.

What You Bring

Education & Experience

• High school diploma required; associate degree or certification in Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline preferred.
• PLC background: 4+ years preferred.
• 4+ years in industrial maintenance or field service, ideally in foundry, casting, or heavy manufacturing; prior travel-based work is a plus.

Skills

• Expert troubleshooting—dig beneath symptoms to pinpoint root causes in controls and electro-mechanical systems.
• Ability to read electrical schematics, hydraulic/pneumatic diagrams, and mechanical blueprints.
• Clear communicator who can translate technical concepts for non-technical audiences; self-driven and effective working independently.

Working Conditions

• Physical: Frequent standing, sitting, use of hands/tools, and verbal communication; occasional walking and reaching; lift/move up to 50 lbs unassisted. Vision requirements include close focus, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
• Environment: Occasional exposure to moving machinery, airborne particles, heat/cold extremes, and electrical risk. Typical noise level is moderate.
• Travel: Up to 75% domestic travel with occasional international trips. Valid driver’s license and a passport (or ability to obtain) required.
