Responsibilities
The Medical Science Liaison is a field-based, scientific, and clinical expert who strategically supports the medical and scientific objectives of the program. Key aspects of this role will include engaging in peer-to-peer scientific dialogue with healthcare professionals that translate into meaningful insight while serving as a therapeutic expert.
Additional responsibilities include:
- Establish, cultivate, and maintain scientific relationships with KOL’s while developing a strong understanding of clinical practice as it relates to areas of interest to advance scientific and medical knowledge.
- Plan and execute medical strategy and engagement for appropriate assigned customer.
- Communicate clinical and scientific data to KOLs and healthcare professionals through presentations, educational programs, and scientific discussions.
- Serve as the primary resource to provide support for addressing unsolicited medical questions and other scientific exchange matters.
- Identify, gather, and document field generated scientific insights to drive innovative Medical Affairs strategies while complying with industry and corporate policies and procedures.
- Communicate clinical and scientific data to KOLs and healthcare professionals through presentations, educational programs, and scientific discussions.
- Maintain scientific and clinical knowledge base through continuous learning and awareness of related scientific literature to enable meaningful scientific exchange.
- Collaborate with field-based Medical colleagues, appropriate Commercial colleagues, and the broader organization to provide scientific expertise and share Medical insights in support of internal and external activities.
- Leverage knowledge of standards of care and company/investigator sponsored clinical trials and competitor landscape to facilitate external-internal research communication.
- Respond to unsolicited scientific inquiries of Health Care Providers (HCPs), investigators, health care systems, academic medical centers, and treatment team members integrating scientific data including real world evidence into real life practice to meet customer needs.
Requirements :
- Along with your ability to remain at the forefront of your field, you must possess:
- MD, PhD, PharmD, PA, NP, or equivalent degree preferred
- 2+ years of industry experience as a Medical Science Liaison or 5+ years of clinical or related practical experiences in GI/Liver required
- Strong scientific & clinical acumen
- Ability to quickly understand & translate complex scientific data & realize the potential impact of that data on clinical practice & potential research needs
- Ability to travel up to 60%, overnights and weekends may be required, and possess a valid driver’s license to drive to assigned healthcare accounts, unless otherwise specified
