Salary Range: $56,000 - $88,000 depending on experience

The Opportunity

Key Responsibilities

• Design, fabricate, and assemble precision tools, dies, jigs, and fixtures.
• Perform maintenance, repair, and modification of existing tooling.
• Operate and set up a variety of machine tools including lathes, mills, grinders, and EDMs.
• Interpret complex blueprints, schematics, and engineering drawings.
• Conduct precision measurements using various metrology equipment to ensure quality and accuracy.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to tool performance and functionality.
• Collaborate with engineering and production teams to optimize tool design and manufacturing processes.

Recommended Qualifications

• Completion of a recognized Tool and Die Maker apprenticeship program or equivalent formal training.
• Proven experience operating a variety of manual and CNC machine tools (e.g., lathes, mills, grinders, EDM).
• Strong ability to read and interpret complex engineering blueprints, schematics, and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
• Proficiency in using precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, gauge blocks, and optical comparators.
• Solid understanding of various metal properties, tooling materials, heat treatment processes, and their application in tool manufacturing.

Bonus Qualifications

• Proficiency in CAD/CAM software (e.g., SolidWorks, Mastercam).
• Experience with advanced metrology equipment (e.g., CMM operation, laser scanners).
• TIG/MIG welding experience for tool repair and modification.
• Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing principles or 5S methodology.
