• Location: Kalamazoo, MI 49007
• Assignment Length: 13 weeks (September 22, 2025 – December 22, 2025)
• Shift: 3x12-hour day shifts (07:00 – 19:30)
• Hours per Week: 36
• Unit: 20-6650 Medical Surgical - GSU
• Patient Population: Adults & Geriatrics
• Patient Ratio: 1:6
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
• Float Requirement: May float to other Med/Surg, ICU, and ED waiting areas
• Charting System: Epic

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Active Michigan RN license (required)
• Minimum 1.5 years of recent Medical/Surgical or Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience
• BLS (AHA) and NIHSS certifications (required)
• Strong post-surgical nursing competencies
• Experience with Epic charting system
• Flu vaccination required (medical exemptions accepted with documentation)
• Professional references required
• First-time travel nurses welcome!

Med/Surg RN Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality clinical nursing care to adult and geriatric patients, including general surgery and medical overflow cases
• Monitor and manage patients with telemetry, colostomy care, feeding tube management, pre/post hemodialysis, and wound care
• Administer medications and treatments such as heparin, insulin, blood products; manage PCA, surgical drains, and chest tubes (Emerson/Pleur-evac)
• Perform peripheral line and PICC line care, start IVs, and access ports
• Deliver respiratory support including high flow nasal cannula, non-invasive airway management, tracheostomy care, and oxygen therapy
• Maintain strict adherence to isolation precautions and infection control protocols
• Float to other Medical/Surgical, ICU, and ED waiting areas as needed
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams including IV, PT, RT, pharmacy, and more
