ATI - Electronics is seeking self-motivated individuals to fill positions in our Manufacturing group in Novi, Michigan. This is a salary position with competitive salary and benefits.

Responsibilities:

The Senior QA Inspector is responsible for performing and providing training on first-article, in-process, rework, and final inspections of rigid and flex PCB assemblies, cable assemblies, packaging inspections, and raw material inspections, utilizing various tools, equipment, forms and applications to document findings. This position requires interaction and communication with employees performing assembly and testing in various work centers on the Manufacturing floor. This position directly reports to the Manufacturing QA Manager and may frequently communicate with other Manufacturing Management team members and Engineering.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Visually inspect Rigid and Flex PCB assemblies with SMT and/or through-hole components to IPC-A- 610 and IPC J-STD-001 standards, per the Manufacturing Order (MO), routing, assembly drawings, work instructions, deviations, quality alerts and other documentation. Accurately identify common defects such as cold solder joints, excessive solder balls, misaligned components, foreign object debris (FOD), voids, tombstoning, physically damaged components, solder bridging, insufficient solder, improper reflow, reversed components, nonwetting, polarity issues, bent/misaligned leads, etc. Proficiently utilize tools to inspect PCB assemblies which may include microscopes, x-ray machine, micrometers, precision rulers, digital camera, calipers, pin gauges, multimeter, proper lighting, and other tools. Document findings utilizing various computer applications and traveler forms.
  • Visually inspect cable assemblies that utilize soldered and/or crimped terminations to IPC/WHMA-A-620 and IPC J-STD-001 standards, per the Manufacturing Order (MO), routing, assembly drawings, work instructions, deviations, quality alerts, pull-test results, and other documentation. This requires proficiency in identifying defects with strip lengths, crimped terminations, soldered terminations, splices, insulation anomalies, terminated wire insertion, connectors, heat-shrink installation, wrapping, strain reliefs, labeling, wire colors, wire AWG, cut length, wire strands, component installation, and other defects. Must be able to proficiently utilize common inspection tools such as a microscope, magnifier, rulers, measuring tape, calipers, micrometers, multimeter, proper lighting, retention tools, and other tools. Document findings utilizing various computer applications and traveler forms.
  • Perform testing on cable assemblies to verify connectivity utilizing the CableEye test system. This involves selecting an appropriate test board fixture, plugging the cable into the fixture, and performing the test via the associated computer application. Occasionally, use DMM to perform continuity tests.
  • Perform firmware and MAC address verification on finished good electronic assemblies utilizing VISION software. This involves plugging the board into test cables and reviewing data displayed in the application.
  • Utilize drawings and specifications to perform receiving inspections on various custom and off-the-shelf wire/multiconductor cabling, raw PCBs, labels, components, and any other item designated for inspection. Findings are to be documented utilizing various computer applications and traveler forms.
  • Perform inspections on repaired RMA/Damaged products and document findings utilizing various computer applications and traveler forms.
  • Inspect, approve and store component/product master samples, as required.
  • Train and mentor QA employees on QA inspection procedures specific to ATI’s products, including the interpretation of assembly drawings, BOMs, and work instructions, as well as the identification of common defects in PCB assemblies, cables assemblies, and components, and raw PCBs in accordance with IPC-A-610, IPC-IPC/WHMA-A-620, IPC J-STD-001, and IPC-A-600.
  • Participate in various on-the-job trainings related to assigned duties, procedural changes, deviations, quality alerts, corrective action reports (CAR), equipment, product, company policies, QMS, and various standard/custom application use.
  • Perform a range of ad-hoc tasks, including conducting or participating in ISO 9001:2015 internal audits, reviewing and validating assembly routings and Bill of Materials (BOM) entries, filing, updating procedures, and completing other duties, as assigned.
  • Must adhere to all safety rules, company policies, and maintain a clean, organized work environment.

Qualifications :

The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications and skills:

Essential Skills/Experience

  • Vast proficiency and experience with QA inspection of electronic assemblies, cable/wire harness assemblies, and components.
  • Advanced understanding of IPC-610 soldering and assembly standards. Certification is a plus.
  • Ability to read and properly interpret assembly drawings, Bills of Materials (BOM), work instructions, pick lists, routings, manufacturing orders (MO), and other documentation that specifies build, inspection, and testing steps.
  • Knowledge and use of common inspection tools and equipment.
  • Basic computer skills and experience with utilizing applications such as Microsoft Outlook, Access, Teams, and similar Windows based programs. Ability to learn new applications.
  • Strong written and verbal reporting and communication skills.
  • Basic knowledge of electronics.

Desired Skills/Experience

  • Familiar with identifying defects with x-ray technology.
  • Experience with working in an ISO 9001:2015 environment
  • Industry certifications.
  • Soldering skills.
