About the Role

The Billing Specialist plays a vital role in protecting the financial health of the organization. This position owns daily billing execution, claim follow-up, and denial resolution to ensure revenue flows accurately and on time.

This is a high-volume, detail-oriented remote role that requires independent thinking, sound judgment, and comfort working within defined policies.

What You'll Do

• Submit and track claims through RCM and payer portals

• Monitor denials and resolve root causes promptly

• Communicate documentation issues clearly and professionally

• Collect patient responsibility (copays, deductibles, no-show fees)

• Track payer trends and escalate systemic issues

• Collaborate with our RCM vendor

• Maintain accurate spreadsheets and reporting

• Support audits and payer inquiries as needed

• Claims submitted accurately and timely

• Denials addressed quickly

• Aging AR actively managed

• No passive backlog accumulation

• Clear, proactive communication

You are comfortable making reasonable decisions when processes are not perfectly defined. You move forward, document your work, and escalate when appropriate.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years medical billing experience

• Strong understanding of CPT and ICD-10 coding

• Experience with major payer portals (Aetna, BCBS, Optum, Kaiser, etc.)

• Proficiency in Excel

• Comfortable working independently in a remote environment

• Experience in high-volume processing roles

• Private, distraction-free home workspace

• Reliable high-speed internet

• Full availability during scheduled work hours

Work Structure

• Full-time (40 hours/week)

• Must be available for the entire scheduled shift

• Ongoing workflow monitoring and productivity review
