We are looking for an experienced Senior Accountant to join our team on a contract basis in Norton Shores, Michigan. In this role, you will manage various accounting tasks, including financial statement preparation, reconciliations, and month-end close processes. This position offers an opportunity to contribute to the financial health and operational efficiency of our organization.
Responsibilities:• Prepare and reconcile daily bank deposits while ensuring accurate application of payments to customer accounts.
• Handle credit card transactions and manage communication with customers regarding overdue balances or statement requests.
• Generate and distribute daily invoices, update shipment tracking information, and maintain organized records.
• Post customer invoices to designated portals and ensure timely processing of accounts payable invoices.
• Conduct monthly commission report preparation and distribution to external agents.
• Perform reconciliations for accounts, journal entries, and financial statements to ensure accuracy.
• Assist in audit preparation, including compiling necessary documentation and ensuring compliance.
• Collect, sort, and distribute mail on a daily basis.
• Run errands to the bank and complete other tasks as assigned by the Controller or Business President.• Proven experience in month-end close processes and general ledger management.
• Strong proficiency in creating and managing journal entries.
• Demonstrated ability to perform account and bank reconciliations with precision.
• Solid understanding of financial statement preparation and audit procedures.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Effective communication skills for interacting with customers and internal teams.
• Ability to adapt to a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
• Previous experience in a similar accounting role is highly preferred.
