Position: Construction Laborer

Job Description:
We are seeking hardworking, reliable individuals to join our dynamic construction team. Ideal candidates must be physically capable of performing strenuous tasks, lifting 50+ pounds independently, climbing ladders safely, and performing duties in various weather conditions.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform construction tasks such as cement work, siding installation, roofing, and framing.

  • Build homes, garages, and other structures from foundation to finish.

  • Execute interior construction projects including drywall, painting, and finishing.

  • Operate basic tools and equipment safely and efficiently.

  • Maintain a clean and organized worksite.

  • Respond promptly when on call for urgent projects and repairs.

Requirements:

  • Physical ability to lift 50 pounds or more without assistance.

  • Comfortable working at heights and climbing ladders.

  • Reliable transportation to and from various job sites.

  • Ability to follow directions, work independently, and collaboratively within a team.

  • Previous construction experience is preferred but not required.

  • Willingness to travel occasionally to job locations in Flint, Detroit, Ohio, and surrounding areas.

Work Schedule:

  • Monday through Friday (40 hours/week)

  • Availability for on-call duties as needed.

About the Role:

As a Carpenter in the construction industry based in Taylor, Michigan, you will play a critical role in building, repairing, and maintaining structures made of wood and other materials. Your work will directly contribute to the successful completion of residential, commercial, or industrial projects by ensuring that all carpentry tasks meet quality and safety standards. You will be expected to interpret blueprints, measure and cut materials accurately, and assemble frameworks and fixtures with precision. This role demands adaptability and problem-solving skills to effectively cope with the many challenges that arise on construction sites, such as unexpected design changes or material shortages. Ultimately, your craftsmanship and attention to detail will help create durable, functional, and aesthetically pleasing structures that meet client specifications and regulatory requirements.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Proven experience as a carpenter or in a similar construction role.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documents and blueprints.
  • Proficiency with hand and power carpentry tools.
  • Physical stamina and dexterity to perform manual labor and work at heights.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Completion of a formal apprenticeship or carpentry training program.
  • Certification in OSHA safety standards or equivalent safety training.
  • Experience with specialized carpentry techniques such as finish carpentry or framing.
  • Familiarity with local building codes and regulations in Michigan.
  • Basic knowledge of other construction trades such as plumbing or electrical work.

Responsibilities:

  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine project requirements.
  • Measure, cut, shape, and assemble wood, drywall, and other materials using hand and power tools.
  • Construct, install, and repair frameworks, walls, floors, doors, windows, and cabinetry.
  • Collaborate with other construction professionals to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
  • Maintain a safe and organized work environment by following safety protocols and proper tool handling.
  • Adapt to changing project needs and troubleshoot issues that arise during construction.
  • Inspect and verify the quality of completed work to ensure compliance with building codes and standards.
