Accounts payable clerk
Position Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and dependable accounts payable clerk to join our team in Southfield, Michigan. In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining up-to-date account records, maintenance of the general ledger, preparation of various accounting statements, and financial reports. Your contributions will directly support the accuracy, efficiency, and overall success of our financial operations.
Position Responsibilities:
- Process various payments for third party vendors including entering invoices with correct general ledger coding for numerous legal entities.
- Posts journal entries and verify billings, invoices, and checks
- Follow up with vendors regarding requests and invoice issues.
- Setup and maintain vendors in the system.
- Monitor AP Mailboxes. Retrieve/receive vendor invoices and vouchers for payment. Check for accuracy.
- Maintain high standards of accuracy and ensure compliance with company and other applicable policies and procedures
- Support month-end closing activities by preparing account reconciliations and resolving reconciling items.
- Ensure compliance with US Generally Accepted Accounting Practices (US GAAP)
- Take part in payment runs: Check ACH, Wire, and making payments using vendor websites.
- Take part in annual 1099 reporting process.
- Provide direct support for vendor and internal questions.
- Prepare and issue vendor payments
- Be able to work independently yet function as part of a team
- Make recommendations for improvements to payment processing
- Assists in completing moderately complex calculations
- Ensure adherence to internal controls and compliance with industry-specific financial regulations
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- High School diploma or equivalent required; Associates or Bachelor degree preferred.
- Experience in Accounts Payable.
- Minimum 1-2 years of experience including interaction with a large customer base
- Basic understanding of bookkeeping and accounting principles.
- Take initiative to identify any issues and create an effective and efficient solution.
- Proven ability to overcome obstacles and get results.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office; ability to quickly learn new software.
- Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Ability to prioritize, multitask, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required
- 0-2+ years of general work experience
- Has a basic understanding of bookkeeping and accounting principles.
- Is proficient with spreadsheets and other software tools.
- Proven ability to overcome obstacles and get results

Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Hourly employees will also be paid overtime pay when working qualifying overtime hours.
