The City of Grandville seeks a qualified individual to fill the position of Police Officer and/or Police Recruit.
Licensed Police Officers, MCOLES Certifiable individuals, Current Police Academy students, or those wishing to enroll in an academy will be considered. The employment application is available online at:
Minimum Qualifications include: minimum age of 18, High School diploma or equivalent, possess a valid driver`s license, MCOLES licensed or eligible for licensing, 20/20 corrected vision in both eyes and the absence of color blindness, and be a citizen of the United States.
A qualified candidate will be classified as a full-time employee. If qualified applications are received, more than one position may be filled in anticipation of upcoming retirements.
Police recruits will earn $25.94/hour throughout the academy. Upon completion of academy and swearing in with the Grandville Police Department, the starting hourly wage is $30.30/hr. Applicants with three (3) to ten (10) years of full-time law enforcement experience will be eligible upon successful completion of the Field Training Program to advance to the corresponding year in the wage scale, earning between $37.85 -$41.51/hour. A contract pay raise of 4% is scheduled for July 1, 2026.

Ability to traverse difficult terrain, strength and stamina to physically restrain suspects, running, climbing, standing, squatting, and sitting for prolonged periods of time; occasionally lift, and carry over 100 pounds, strength to subdue persons, to drag, carry and lift persons and objects; vision to read printed materials and a computer screen; vision to read printed materials and computer screens; and hearing and speech to communicate in person or over the radio/telephone.
