The Opportunity

Williams International has an exciting opportunity for a Manual Machinist (Tool Maker) join our team. The Machinist will be responsible for toolmaking, die repair, and fabrication. This position is for nights 9:30 PM - 6 AM.

Additionally, the Machinist will:

  • Set-up and operate miscellaneous manual machines, including mills, lathes, and grinders.
  • Machine parts according to blueprint standards and specifications.
  • Perform inspection related activities to ensure that parts are machined in accordance with manufacturing standards and blueprint specifications.
  • Remove burrs, sharp edges, tool marks and other irregularities from machined parts to ensure they are in accordance with engineering blueprints, and tolerance requirements.
  • Communicate change of shift requirements to ensure team members receive accurate and reliable information and documentation.
  • Perform routine maintenance of machines and equipment operated.
  • Clean, organize and maintain cellular manufacturing work area in accordance with established standards.
  • Ensure the continuous flow of materials and parts through the Cell.
  • Adhere to all safety standards and regulations.
  • Participate in the training and development of other Cellular Manufacturing Associates to promote the continuous quality improvement of manufacturing operations.
  • Strive to accomplish team goals and enhance the quality of machined parts through the reduction of scrap and improvement of throughput.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED

  • 2-3 years with manual lathes and mills is required.
  • Must be able to read, understand and correctly interpret basic blueprint drawings and follow planning instructions.
  • Familiar with GD&T specifications and capable of performing basic inspections based on engineering drawings.
  • Ability to use common measuring equipment such as micrometers, calipers, gauges (pin, thread, indicator, height), optical comparators etc.
  • Attention to detail, ability to perform multiple tasks at the same time.
  • Demonstrates strong organizational and collaborative skills in a fast-paced environment.
  • Physical lifting requirements include; ability to lift 50 pounds (4 inches to 25 inches), capable of pushing or pulling a weight of 60 pounds, a grip strength of at least 50 pounds, and be able to reach above the shoulder (65 inches).
  • U.S. citizenship is required.
  • Position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Government Security Clearance, if needed.
