Summary:

A WireEDMMachinistjob involvesMastercam programming, programselection, settingup,and operating Mitsubishi and Sodick wireEDM machinestopreciselycutandshapemetalparts,requiringstrongtechnicalskills,attentiontodetail,andknowledgeofmachiningprinciples.

ProgramminginMastercam

oFullyknowledgeableinprogramminganddefiningparameterstomakehighprecisionpartswithtolerancesrangingfrom

±0.0002to±0.001

ProgramSelectionandSetup:

oReadingandinterpretingtechnicaldrawingsandspecifications.

oSettingupandadjustingmachineparametersforoptimalperformance.

oSelectingappropriatewireelectrodeforholepopperandWireEDMfixtures.

OperationandMonitoring:

oOperatingwireEDMmachinestoproducepartsaccordingtospecifications.

oMonitoringtheEDMmachiningprocesstoensureaccuracy andquality.

oIdentifyingandaddressingpotentialproblemsorissuesduringoperation.

InspectionandQualityControl:

oPerformingprecisionmeasurementsandqualityinspectionsofmachinedparts.

oVerifyingdimensions,alignments,andclearancesusingmeasuringinstruments.

oEnsuringthatpartsmeetspecifiedtolerancesandqualitystandards.

MaintenanceandSafety:

oMaintainingmachinesandequipmentinsafeandefficientworkingconditions.

oFollowingsafetyproceduresandregulations.

oKeepingtheworkareaclean andorganized.

OtherDuties:

oCollaboratingwithengineers,toolmakers, andotherteammembers.

oParticipatingincontinuousimprovementinitiatives.

oProvidingsupportforothermachiningprocesses.

· HighSchoolGraduateorequivalent.

·5–10yearsofsolidexperienceinset -up andoperationofwireEDMmachine.

· Abilitytoworkfromcomplexdrawings withclosetolerances.

· Experiencewithlowvolume,highmixproduction

· AbilitytointerpretGeometricDimensioningandTolerancing(GD &T).

· Experiencewithgagesandmeasuringequipment.

· Musthaveowntools(e.g.micrometers,calipers,depthmicrometer,etc.)

Relationships:

§ ReportstotheOperationsSupervisorandworkscloselywithoperations,engineering,andAdmin -CSR.

§ Thispositioninvolvescontact withvariouslevelsof employeeswithinthecompany.

Demands:

· Workmayrequiresitting,standing,orwalkingforextendedperiods,primarilyonlevelsurfaces.

· Activitiesmayinvolvereachingaboveshoulderheight,belowwaistlevel,andliftingasneededtoprocessorstorematerials.

· Properliftingtechniques arerequired. Liftingto50poundsmaybe necessaryonoccasion.Pushingorpullingwithamaximumforceofup to 150 pounds may also be required.· Thispositionrequiresworkinginamanufacturingenvironment,withexposureto ambient roomtemperatures,standardlighting, and traditional manufacturing equipment.

· Useofpersonalprotectiveequipment(PPE)isrequired,includingsafetyglasses withsideshields; hearingprotectionmayberequired under certain conditions.
