Job Title: Maintenance Technician

Job Description

You will primarily handle mechanical breakdowns, perform preventive maintenance, and support basic electrical troubleshooting, working from schematics and workbooks as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot and repair a variety of onsite equipment, including forklifts, welders, overhead cranes, saws, sandblast booths, paint booths, and related machinery.
  • Perform facilities maintenance tasks such as changing light bulbs, basic HVAC maintenance, and general building upkeep.
  • Diagnose mechanical issues, with an emphasis on hydraulic and pneumatic systems, and complete timely repairs to minimize downtime.
  • Perform electrical troubleshooting on equipment up to 440-volt motors, focusing on identifying issues and determining when to engage outside electrical vendors for complex repairs.
  • Read and interpret schematics, diagrams, and workbooks to guide troubleshooting and repair activities.
  • Conduct preventive and corrective maintenance according to the established preventive maintenance (PM) system and schedules.
  • Use hand tools and appropriate equipment safely and effectively to perform mechanical and minor electrical repairs.
  • Support industrial maintenance activities across the plant to ensure all equipment operates safely and efficiently.
  • Collaborate with another maintenance technician and production staff to prioritize work and respond to breakdowns.
  • Document maintenance work performed and communicate equipment status to relevant stakeholders.
  • Follow OSHA safety practices and standards in all maintenance activities and promote a strong safety culture within the facility.

Essential Skills

  • At least 1 year of mechanical troubleshooting experience, including work with hydraulics, pneumatics, and hand tools.
  • At least 1 year of electrical experience with 110-volt systems, including wiring and conduit work.
  • Experience performing preventive maintenance on industrial equipment.
  • Ability to troubleshoot equipment with up to 440-volt motors at a basic level, focusing on diagnostics rather than complex repairs.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting schematics and workbooks for mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Hands-on experience with industrial maintenance, including repair and upkeep of production equipment.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills in both mechanical and basic electrical systems.
  • Ability to use hand tools safely and effectively in a maintenance environment.
  • Familiarity with HVAC systems sufficient for basic maintenance tasks.
  • Capability to perform maintenance repair and preventive/corrective maintenance in an industrial setting.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Previous experience repairing welders, overhead cranes, paint booths, and similar industrial equipment.
  • Experience in carpentry and plumbing as applied to facilities maintenance.
  • Experience with PLC troubleshooting in an industrial environment.
  • Exposure to field service work, including travel within a facility or between sites to support equipment maintenance.
  • Knowledge of industrial electrical troubleshooting and electrical maintenance best practices.
  • Understanding of OSHA safety practices and standards in an industrial or manufacturing setting.

Why Work Here?

You will join a team that places a strong emphasis on safety, professionalism, and doing the job right the first time. The organization follows OSHA safety practices and standards, creating a work environment where safety is a core value rather than an afterthought. You will work alongside experienced maintenance professionals, gain exposure to a wide variety of equipment, and build your skills in both mechanical and electrical maintenance. The consistent daytime schedule supports work-life balance, while the diverse range of tasks keeps the work engaging and provides ongoing opportunities to grow your technical expertise.

Work Environment

This is a first-shift position with hours from 6:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. You will work in an industrial plant environment supporting all production areas, focusing on keeping equipment operational and safe. The role involves frequent hands-on work with forklifts, welders, overhead cranes, saws, sandblast and paint booths, and various facility systems, including HVAC, lighting, and basic building maintenance. You will handle primarily mechanical breakdowns, with approximately 90% of the work being mechanical and 10% electrical troubleshooting. When complex electrical repairs are required, outside electrical vendors typically perform the work, and you will support them with diagnostics. You will work closely with one other maintenance technician as part of a small, collaborative maintenance department. The environment is highly safety oriented, operating under OSHA safety practices and standards, and requires consistent use of appropriate personal protective equipment and adherence to safe work procedures.
