Middle/High School Math Interventionist

ASSIGNMENT: Reports to the MS/HS Principal

COMPENSATION: $28.00 per hour (5.5 hours per day)

DESCRIPTION:

The Math Interventionist is responsible for supporting student achievement in the area of Mathematics with special attention to Tier II and III instruction. The Interventionist provides individual or small-group instruction to students who are struggling academically, both during and after the school day. This position is also responsible for monitoring, reporting, and communicating student progress and performance. This position is for the 2025-26 school year.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor’s Degree (math background preferred, but not required).

• Three or more years of teaching experience or tutoring of middle and/or high school students in mathematics.

• Knowledge of Michigan state assessments and the Michigan mathematics curriculum.

• Knowledge of intervention techniques to accelerate skill development.

• Demonstrates success with increasing student achievement.

• Demonstrates leadership, organizational, and collaboration skills.

• Ability to use computers proficiently for word processing and record keeping.

• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.

Demonstrates effective communication and interpersonal skills.

RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:

• Provide focused instruction in individual or small group settings to support struggling students in mathematics, both during and after school.

• Assist classroom teachers in maintaining records and anecdotal information to effectively measure student progress.

• Utilize protocols to ensure that interventions have been implemented with fidelity.

• Collaborate with teachers, administration, and families to help identify best practices for individual and small groups of students.

• Participate in district professional development and meetings.

• Work collaboratively with the district mathematics department.

• Uphold and enforce school rules, administrative regulations, and legal/local board policies.

• Perform other related duties.
