Associate Veterinarian Responsibilities

As an Associate Veterinarian, you will:

  • Provide comprehensive medical care for companion animals
  • Perform physical examinations and diagnostic evaluations
  • Develop and implement treatment plans
  • Perform routine and advanced soft tissue surgical procedures
  • Conduct dental examinations and dental procedures
  • Educate pet owners on preventive care and treatment options
  • Maintain accurate medical records
  • Collaborate with veterinarians and support staff to ensure exceptional patient care
  • Build long-term relationships with clients and their pets
  • Uphold the highest standards of veterinary medicine and patient advocacy
  • Perform soft tissue surgery and dentistry

Requirements & Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) or Veterinary Medical Doctor (VMD) degree from an accredited veterinary school
  • Active veterinary license in Michigan, or ability to obtain licensure prior to start date
  • Minimum of 2+ years of small animal clinical experience preferred
  • Proficiency in companion animal medicine and surgery
  • Strong communication and client education skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment
  • Commitment to high-quality patient care and client service

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience performing routine soft tissue surgeries independently
  • Interest in dentistry and preventive medicine
  • Confidence managing medical and surgical cases from diagnosis through treatment
  • Experience mentoring veterinary support staff or newer veterinarians
  • Interest in developing specialty services or advanced clinical skills
