Production Supervisor Powertrain - Gear & Pinion Manufacturing
Role summary / purpose
As a Production Supervisor, you are the vital link between strategic goals and daily execution. You'll lead a dedicated hourly team, fostering an environment where they can do their best work and feel empowered. This is a critical leadership position where you'll have the power to shape culture, drive performance, and directly impact the quality and efficiency of operations.
Key responsibilities
- Safety First: Act as a champion of workplace safety, proactively enforcing regulations and fostering a culture of vigilance.
- Driving Operational Excellence: Lead and direct a team of employees that consistently makes high-quality products and meets or exceeds production targets. Take ownership of team performance, addressing shortcomings proactively and celebrating successes.
- Strategic Focus Problem Solving: Prioritize critical tasks and effectively allocate human resources to maximize efficiency. Address safety and quality issues promptly and decisively to prevent larger problems. Identify and analyze problems, develop and implement effective solutions, make timely and well-informed decisions, and adapt to changing circumstances.
- Team Leadership Development: Embrace a servant leadership style, focusing on building high-performing teams and investing in their growth. Foster a positive and collaborative work environment, motivating your team to achieve shared goals.
- Data-Driven Decision Making: Utilize data and insights to reduce downtime and quality defects, driving quantifiable improvements in efficiency and quality. Meticulously track and report employee time and attendance, transforming raw data into actionable intelligence for strategic decision-making and continuous improvement.
- Continuous Improvement Quality Assurance: Maintain a relentless focus on identifying and eliminating inefficiencies, improving processes, and driving innovation to enhance productivity, quality, and safety. Be uncompromisingly committed to quality, implementing and maintaining rigorous standards and relentlessly pursuing excellence to eliminate defects and ensure exceptional product quality.
- Conflict Resolution Interpersonal Relationships: Proactively address and mediate conflicts fairly and effectively, facilitating mutually acceptable solutions. Build and maintain strong, positive working relationships with your team and all partners, including suppliers and union representatives, through transparent communication and a willingness to listen, fostering a psychologically safe environment.
- Accountability Fairness: Champion accountability, managing both your own performance and that of the hourly workforce regarding processes and standards. Ensure accountability, play fair, and meet conflict with decisive action.
- Collaboration: Actively listen to and value the perspectives of all team members and other department stakeholders. Be a partner with team members, the union, and management to continuously improve everything.
Requirements - education & experience
- Experience with Lean / Six Sigma methodology and / or Military Decision-Making Process (MDMP)
Nice-to-have / preferred skills
- Experience working in a production environment focused on Gear and Pinion hobbling, milling, and maintenance
